I'm struggling to understand our finances.

I understand that Randy authorises player expenditure but why does it have to stop just because he is selling up?  Are we that piss poor financially that after a generation of Sky money and gates that are in excess of 35000 every home game that we haven't generated any excess money to have any transfer budget unless Randy personally opens his wallet?

Until recently we were losing £50million a year, hence the sudden austerity and the need to gut the squad and replace it with cheap yoofs.

I think I read somewhere we were better now (thanks to Lambert).

I wonder why we can't offer people like Vlaar an extension – I'm not sure at his age he'd warrant a rise in wages, so surely it's already part of the budget? It is confusing.

From MysteryMan's Facebook, apparently

Quote
Villa situation ! Lerner pumped in near to 300 million depending on what report you believe ? He has a new lady from New York and along with the Lerner family getting plenty of earache about his investment and commitment in a football club that isn't a business investment . So he looks at it and thinks ONeil screwed me over promised the earth I followed him and left with the debt . He then makes a serious of crazy appointments who cost him a fortune to get rid of who also bring in players that are on ridiculous high wages . He still continues to pump money in and then goes through a series of discipinary issues ( The Herd one is yet to break ) and is now getting the fans on his back and stops coming to the games . It looks as though he is going to take a 100 million bath on this foray and probably regrets ever hearing the name Aston Villa . What seemed exciting and an adventure is just the opposite and he wants out . There are no buyers at present and he isn't going to put any more money in why would he you ask ? People keep saying then season ticket sales and hosptilaty will be affected in the wole income its what max 20% so he thinks why would I put 10 to 20 million in of my own money to generate what ? So he isn't going to do it and working on the adage he can sell it in the next 12 months whilst we are still in the premier league where all the real income is derived from . Its not good for us fans and the club but the fact is why would you think he would put anymore money in now when he wants out .

Looking pretty poor.

EDIT although I can't see it there.

the way I read that is that he wants out and quickly, not just from a financial standpoint but more so on a personal level. That owning sports teams hasn't exactly filled him with the joy he was seeking, and has affected more than just his wallet. I still contend that he will do the right thing but the mere fact that wrote off 90m earlier in the year suggests that he'll sell for less the sums being touted in the media. He wants out, he wants things done as quickly as a sale of a major business can be done, but he won't want it going to some chancer like Yeung or Tan, which naturally narrows the pool of potential buyers.

Morning geezers,

Some on here need to relax a little.

Buying a football club is a massive job full of potential hurdles, obstacles and road blocks.

Things don't always go smoothly.

Just settle down. Good times round the corner.

Getting a little less detail nowadays - I wonder if this is only the result of one confirmed sauce (HP obviously) and a few taps of the heating pipes. Filed under bright iridescent blue.

As I said on another thread, it's looking pretty bleak at the moment.
