Lescott and Barry's wages would be £10m per annum between them. Simply not happening.
They might be earning a stupid amount of money at the moment, but I'm pretty certain that their next clubs won't be paying them £95,000 per week each.

They'll be earning more than we'd be willing to pay, sure. But just because that's what they earn now doesn't mean they'll be earning it in future.

Not from where I am looking we are not. We are in a dreadful position while the uncertainty persists. To me the placing of the club in limbo land is as bad a cock up as any perpetrated in the last four years. If this vacuum is filled quickly and satisfactorily no lasting harm will have been done. If on the other hand it drags on in secrecy and confusion it is their masterpiece of foot shooting.

Completely agree Brian - just when we were glad to see the back of a nightmare season , next seasons preparations are thrown into disarray.

I am a sick already of the media over-dramatising everything - the negotiations always "collapse" - it's like me saying I went to look at a pair of shoes but the deal "collapsed" when I saw they were not leather!

Keith Harris on 5Live this morning sounding very cagey about the Villa but happy to chat about Ken Bates 10 years ago - only to be expected i suppose.

Given the disastrous decision making of the past few years, there are precious few reasons why we should expect this sale to be concluded quickly and painlessly. I hope it won't be the case, but I'm preparing myself for a tedious, excruciating saga to rival the most torturous of our managerial appointments. Stock up your cupboards with tins of soup and powdered egg, it could be a long, long summer.

Yet they conducted transfer dealings with a minimum of fuss and behind closed doors.  One thing I think we can rely on is Randy NOT doing it via the media and we'll likely just have loose speculation until it's a done deal.

Quite, the key is finding a somebody willing to invest in a club that has been in the doldrums for too long and as hence one where buyers will have to be sought out rather than be queueing at the door.

I hope you're right. But the difference with a transfer is that there's no obvious starting point with the process. We've no idea how long it's dragged on for. When a manager goes, it's pretty clear we need a new one, and the replacement process has always been gruelling. Now we know we have to find a new owner, I'm not expecting a quick turnaround.

I would, but on reduced terms (if he's accept).  We need some 'transitional' players who will get us from where we are now to where we want to be.  Gabby would suit that role in my opinion as he can cover a number of positions.  Plus by the time we get good (IF we get good) he'll probably be reaching 30+ so happy to be on the bench.

A bit like how Micah Richards links old Man City to the new Theme Park.  It'll be a shame when he leaves.

We all know that Lambert and Faulkner are off to New York this week to see Randy. Randy owns a restaurant there and it's closed on Friday for a 'private dinner reception'.
Now you don't close a whole restaurant just to treat a couple of employees to a meal. Or do you?
