The last bit is obvious, a new owner almost always wants his own man so it is usually just a matter of when. However, as a non Twitterer is there any reason to take this any more seriously than all the nonsense that was was being posted here emanating from Eastie's new padded cell?

I agree with you TV. Why sell players who could do much better under new coaching and new management. Half the teams in the lower leagues will be sniffing around for fire sale bargains.

I think the chain of importance is that we can't change manager until we change owner as the new people might not want him, and also because, well, what if they do?

Or the club might remain unsold for ages.

Lerner has made it pretty clear what he thinks of Lambert, he's not getting sacked by Lerner at any point, so there's no point wanting or expecting that to happen.

There is no point doing significant work on the squad until we have a new manager in place OR we commit to the current manager for a longer period.

None of the above are likely to happen whilst we are still looking at regime change.

That's why it really needs to happen as quickly as possible, and is also how we might actually find ourselves in a very awkward situation indeed - starting the season with a manager next to nobody wants, under an owner who has said he wants out, and in the same tight financial climate, which is unlikely to change whilst we are for sale.

One of the most interesting things to me about that statement was the final line - about appointing Merrill Lynch to assist and manage the sale. It's particularly encouraging because it gives a clue to the status and background of the buyer(s) he's doubtless been looking at in the last few weeks. If I'd been negotiating with a Larry Ellison they, as one of the biggest financial organisations in the world, are the sort of people I'd be bringing in.

Well Kraft bought Cadbury's a few years ago. So there is a fantastically tenuous link, so why not?

Then promptly reneged on the promises they made during the courtship.

I still want a free dairy milk when I arrive at the ground. I don't care who gives it to me.

I shall remain cautiously optimistic of this happening reasonably soon. Who knows if they will be any good mind.

Nice to have a bit of hope back though.

Kraft group is as good a punt as the other names that have been doing the rounds over the last few weeks

He is followed by the Guardian's Barney Ronay, but then Ronay is interested more in the funny than the factual side of the game so that doesn't say much necessarily. His tweets get a lot right, but a lot of them are pretty obvious, such as Milner going to the World Cup and Kyle Walker not. However, he was also ahead of the game and very confident that Cole was out, Shaw was in and Flanagan was on standby.

None of which proves he knows anything about Villa, of course, but he did get those right.

Well Kraft bought Cadbury's a few years ago. So there is a fantastically tenuous link, so why not?

Yep, arseholes. It would be a bit like being bought by Nestle. Or, I dunno, the rulers of the UAE.
