There's no way you could sell a football club of Villa's size, from scratch in 6 weeks. I expect we are in advanced stages of negotiations.

Newcastle did.

Although, apparently Mike Ashley didn't even get due diligence done, he just went ahead and bought it (and then spent several years finding all the skellingtons Freddie Shepherd had stashed away in various cupboards).

It is also worth mentioning that, it is certainly no corner shop, but Aston Villa isn't really that huge a business if you look at turnover.

Well lets hope that's not the sort of owner we get, if that's the case.

Yeah, you're right there, I'm sure the due dilligence process takes around 4 weeks itself.

People are questioning why we had the statement last month and then this one today. I do wonder how much certain sites launching with ITK fanfares and then the press reporting these as facts led to last months statement?

What is the TBAR reaction to the above news release?

Akin to the scene in Parenthood when the clown turns up drunk to the party.

Link please (to the pertinent Parenthood scene, not TBAR).

I'd also like to refer members to option three which I added to the poll:

"*something incomprehensible* then "Err, nothing to say really"

... and then point at the word "Shunammite" in the statement.

Almost spookily correct, there.
You couldn't divulge the winning lottery numbers could you?

No doubt in my mind we are sold just a timing issue, now all the effort will be finding out who.

I agree - I've been involved in a couple of aquisitions and they've taken ages - I think a price has been agreed pending due diligence.

If the Michael Jackson statue suddenly appears outside VP in the next few weeks, we'd better start worrying.

Add to that the Leagues Fit & Proper Persons test, which going on past performance must take at least 5 seconds.

Sorry but the clown doesn't turn up drunk. They send a stripper by mistake. Meanwhile, the clown gets half beaten to death in a bar across town.

Turnover of currently £110 million (based on the extra £30 million in TV money we have just secured) and around what? 250 permanent staff?

We're a relatively small business really.

I'm pretty sure the scene referred to appears in 'Uncle Buck'.

When we are sold, who will announce it first? The club? The buyer?

Probably joint statement.

When Randy bought the club it was essentially July/August time. MON joined in late July. It's currently May 12th. As long as we have a new owner in place by July then the new manager/ownership still will have time to set up for the season.
