Reading that statement I'm fairly clear we are nowhere near being sold. What a sorry state of affairs.

Well this isn't going to be a short process so in the meantime we're in limbo.

Can't see Randy putting any more money into the club so we're pretty much screwed in terms of new signings until a buyer is in place.

Bad times :-(

Yes that's my view too. I think it's the worst of all outcomes and we face starting next season in a weakened state.

No way. This negativity is really OTT.

Randy normally says nothing about anything, so he's got something lined up.

The General's statement is bizarre, we don't hear from him for years & then he comes out with some form of cryptic gibberish. I'm assuming it makes sense to him.

Anyway, I believe that things need to be sorted over the next 6 weeks one way or the other. If things aren't sorted within this timescale we are in trouble.

@SkySportsNews: Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner confirms he's looking for a buyer & hopes to have one within 6 weeks - we'll have more on this story on #SSN

I think its as good as sold

Big differences with Everton being up for sale and our situation. Randy has effectively said his goodbye and handed it all over to the existing staff to guide us through the "transition" not until a buyer is sought.

It's as clear as night and day for me that he's in talks with someone to sell. It's nonsense to think he's only appointed the BOA today. I challenged Pat Murphy and he as good as admitted it was a guess.

When we are sold, who will announce it first? The club? The buyer?

Probably joint statement.

I would imagine there will be a press conference rather than a statement when the new owners are in place.

There's no way you could sell a football club of Villa's size, from scratch in 6 weeks. I expect we are in advanced stages of negotiations.
Also there is an element of damned if you do, damned if you don't on this thread.
After the 2 coaches got put on gardening leave Randy, correctly in my view, put out a statement to steady the shit and get us over the line of relegation. If he had said nothing it would have just added to the uncertainty. he has now set out a statement of where we are at and his intentions and everyone is either disappointed because he hasn't already lines up a billionaire (because they have read ITKs on Twitter and got their expectations ahead of reality) or been criticised because the statement doesn't tell us anything and he should have said nothing. If he had said nothing this forum would have gone into melt down.

He can't win.

Newcastle did.

Although, apparently Mike Ashley didn't even get due diligence done, he just went ahead and bought it (and then spent several years finding all the skellingtons Freddie Shepherd had stashed away in various cupboards).

It is also worth mentioning that, it is certainly no corner shop, but Aston Villa isn't really that huge a business if you look at turnover.

Steadying the shit is exactly right.
We had shit that needed to be steadied.

I'd also like to refer members to option three which I added to the poll:

"*something incomprehensible* then "Err, nothing to say really"

... and then point at the word "Shunammite" in the statement.

Almost spookily correct, there.
