Whatever your opinion of Lerner's stewardship of the club, he has always behaved with decorum and good heart, as befitting a club that has a special place in the history of football. The snide comments and derision really are uncalled for.

The statement reads like part one to me. It is usually the buyer who announces the sales - Lerner is taking opportunity to say his goodbye in his own way before the real business starts. I find it hard to believe the statement has been made out of any context of an actual sale in progress in some way or other.

If he has learned anything this last 8 years, it is what it is like to be a Villa fan. I wish him all the best.

Snide comments and derision?
Have you actually seen the team play over this last season, or over the last 4 years?

Still Searching for Sugardaddy, SH?

Spot on, Steve. It most certainly reads as a farewell and it would have been rude not to say anything before handing over. I'd guess things are further down the line than most imagine.

There is no imminent deal on the horizon ! I know it's not the news we want and the reality isn't as exciting as the fiction was how it was put to me today ! We are in limbo until RL has an acceptable offer !

Surely now he has announced he is going to sell the club - he wouldn't want to risk any potential sale by relegation - therefore whilst not spending big money Lerner will spend what is needed to avoid a repeat of the last 4 seasons - maybe wishful thinking ?

Good old Randy, he's a character all right.

The worst news would have been he was staying put and the status quo remained. It's clear he doesn't know and doesn't employ people good enough to run this club.

The best news would have been we're sold as of this week to a consortium of Villa mad billionaires.

This is somewhere in the middle. At least we will have change. I trust Randy to do the right thing and sell to the right buyer, If it is concluded within 4-5 weeks we should be fine. Randy is a good man mostly and he wont sell us to crooks.
