Surely the new owners would announce themselves rather than Lerner doing it?

You would assume there would be interested parties at least, as I fail to believe that its only now that Lerner has decided to sell. Why bother announcing what we already know?

We didn't already know it.

I think you have misunderstood me. I mean that it has seemed evident that lerner wanted to sell for some time with the way the club has been run etc. He could have run this statement last season or the one before that and people wouldn't have been shocked.

What I was getting at is that I think there is something significant in him actually coming out and saying it.

I think this seems perfectly clear that Lambert will not be getting the heave ho. I hope he jacks it in, because the sooner he does, the sooner he can look for a new job. No potential new owner is going to keep him on.

Sacking Lambert would be mental if you're intending to sell the club, leaving the club with no leader figure. It's a decision for the new owner to make which I think they will.

I for one am thankful for everything he's done for us. Plenty has improved since he took other, if only the playing side of things had.

I  don't think there are any "advanced talks" with any potential buyer, we are in for a very worrying and frustrating summer. Fingers crossed indeed.

Absolutely pathetic. Tell us something we don't know. Every club in the world is technically up for fecking sale. I think we're well aware that Randy has been getting us ready for sale for the last 4 years. What bloody difference would it have made to him to just come out and say it last month, rather than tease the fans?

To be honest after today, and the game yesterday and the shite that's come from them, I've lost any good will I might have had for Lerner and Lambert. They shouldn't be treating us like we're morons. The pair of them can pack up and fuck off as far as I'm concern. What's happened to us in the last 3 years in particular, has been shambolic and the lack of ambition has been terrifying.
It's okay though because we've obviously done exceptionally well this season.

Why have we been treated like morons? He said that he would announce things at the end of the season and that's exactly what he has done.
But he hasn't really announced anything. Would it have affected the team that much to say we were up for sale last month? That part was glaringly obvious. He's left many, for the last month, expecting something of a more solid piece of news. It's like a 10 year olds idea of a practical joke.

It's just yet another public relations howler from the club. Between that and Lambert bigging himself up yesterday, I can't be arsed with the pair of them anymore.

It's not his fault if you were expecting something different. He said he'd give more information and he has.

This is my take on the statement, no businessman would wait until the end of the season when there are realitsically eight weeks before players are back in training to announce the business is up for sale, that's commercial suicide so i believe negotiations are well advanced. That doesn't let all the ITKs who proffessed that they had the inside info off in the least. Anyone could predict that we were being sold it was obvious.

It's not Randy's fault if people on the likes of Twitter and other forums took it upon themselves to spread false hope of being taken over by a billionaire the day after the season has ended. He wanted to get the season out of the way and he's stuck to his word.

He's ultimately been naive to think that a club can be run with so little investment, but he gave it a go for a while...
TBF, he's pumped in £250m -ish and written a fair amount of it off.
What screwed him was the early blind and total faith in MON and the game-changing takeover of Citeh.

His naivety wasn't in the investment projections; it was in entrusting MON early on; IMO.

Oh yes, absolutely! But that led to him thinking that he could re-coup all that O'Neill pissed up the wall, without continuing to invest. More to be pitied than scolded.

There must be something in the pipeline. That seemed very much a goodbye from Randy. At the very least he's a cracking read is Randy. Shalummite? Anyone reckon someone bet him a fiver he couldn't get that word in?

I wonder when BoA were engaged?

With Lerners association with the Bank, I would imagine that in practice they have never been disengaged.

If there is not a deal in place, then that is really the worst outcome, it would just be the announcement of a summer of drift, something u fear will kill us off.

I now actually feel sorry for Lambert.

I dunno if he's really given any more information to be honest. It's like announcing the plot twist to the Sixth Sense to a room full of people who have already seen it. I don't know why he had to make that initial statement a month ago at all.

Noooooooo! The torment continues. We could be sat here in August with Lambert still here and no new players, truly horrifying.
