It's a very human thing to do is clutching at straws in adversity. That's what I'm doing now - he simply has to have something lined up.

If not, that is the most ridiculous business move since Apple sacked Steve Jobs.

Absolutely pathetic. Tell us something we don't know. Every club in the world is technically up for fecking sale. I think we're well aware that Randy has been getting us ready for sale for the last 4 years. What bloody difference would it have made to him to just come out and say it last month, rather than tease the fans?

To be honest after today, and the game yesterday and the shite that's come from them, I've lost any good will I might have had for Lerner and Lambert. They shouldn't be treating us like we're morons. The pair of them can pack up and fuck off as far as I'm concern. What's happened to us in the last 3 years in particular, has been shambolic and the lack of ambition has been terrifying.
It's okay though because we've obviously done exceptionally well this season.

Why have we been treated like morons? He said that he would announce things at the end of the season and that's exactly what he has done.

"I have engaged Bank of America Merrill Lynch to advise on the sale of Aston Villa"

That to me suggests that negotiations have at the very least been started.

This summer will be fun. Squad already fucked with zero investment. Next season will be very rough.
Which is why the process HAS to be quite advanced.
This statement will just screw season ticket sales now.
The majority will hold off until they know if we are being sold or if we're spending no cash and are screwed

Purely a holding statement. Deal in the pipelines. Not RL style to say too much. Very much a goodbye. Would not of released that statement if something wasn't at an advanced stage

Yep unless there's some sort of massive turn around, we're buried.

Admirably quickly, as well.

Surely the new owners would announce themselves rather than Lerner doing it?

You would assume there would be interested parties at least, as I fail to believe that its only now that Lerner has decided to sell. Why bother announcing what we already know?

We didn't already know it.

But he hasn't really announced anything. Would it have affected the team that much to say we were up for sale last month? That part was glaringly obvious. He's left many, for the last month, expecting something of a more solid piece of news. It's like a 10 year olds idea of a practical joke.

It's just yet another public relations howler from the club. Between that and Lambert bigging himself up yesterday, I can't be arsed with the pair of them anymore.

He's ultimately been naive to think that a club can be run with so little investment, but he gave it a go for a while...
TBF, he's pumped in £250m -ish and written a fair amount of it off.
What screwed him was the early blind and total faith in MON and the game-changing takeover of Citeh.

His naivety wasn't in the investment projections; it was in entrusting MON early on; IMO.
