Gogglebox is a programme where various families watch other TV programmes and you see their reactions to them. It's quite funny.

Yes, but imagine the kit.  Nice, fitted number with stunning detail.  Yours for £500 a go

Lerner could just update his Facebook status.
I bet Randy's the kind of guy who only updates his page once a year to share a mildly amusing meme. Every now and again he might like something from Buzzfeed or something too, like "50 signs you're failing as a soccerball club owner."

Us and the Geordies are in for Christophe Galtier as our next manager. According to French media

He possibly has the least informative wiki page ever.

Oh I don't know.

I think it will be stadium renaming and a new Tier 1 Partner . My money is on Turkish Airlines.

He specifically said he would address the questions over his ownership, though.

It's not going to be some crappy sponsorship deal.

Mind you, it's probably actually nothing other than poor choice of words in his first statement.

He's probably sat at home now, reading these forums, chain smoking two fags at a time, saying "what have I done? What am I going to say?" whilst rocking back and forth.

He's probably desperately circulating ads in Arab trade magazines, hoping to catch the eye of a wealthy trillionaire.
Either that or he's going to announce that we're being taken over by a Mr I P Freely.

As I said on another thread, unless the announcement is that Randy is staying and is going to start investing money into the team and adding footballing knowledge to the board, or we're being taken over by someone who is going to do that we're basically stuffed.

Randy's Statement poll. Will it be:

A) We're sold; I'm off.
B) I'm mental; I'm sticking 'round.
C) I'm now a woman called Rania. How do you do?
D) I'm getting a kitten.
E) I'm mental. Garden centre. Potato. Socks.
F)  I'm fickle, but I like you.
G) Don't make me come over there and sort you lot out.
H) Don't make me come over there.

Were it option C, surely if would be easier to go with Randa.

I think there's going to be some disappointment next week. We'll probably announce a new partnership deal / shirt sponsor / stadium renaming  and Lambert will sign a new contract.

I have an inkling you may be wrong Silhill. I think something of major importance will be announced at Villa Park next week.

Agreed.

I should be to old to worry what this, typical American has to say/do with the club, I was born less than a mile from. I thought Doug was a c***, this bloke though has no idea what he was getting his families money into, and now wants to cut and run (very American) so now we are up for grabs by anybody who thinks they too can make a quick buck out of a English football team.

We have our memories of our team, when it was THE TEAM.
I have absolutely no idea what you are on about.
I think you may have celebrated new ownership very heartily.

There is a load of anti American crap on your post that is quite frankly unacceptable. I do not accept or appease racists on this website as a fellow poster.

There could well be a load of crap associated with the record of the club this season, but there is only one American person, the owner; the rest are home-grown. There have been loads of mistakes and quite honestly I think we can keep this judgmental discussion to assessing football nous or not, rather than introducing any nationalistic shit.

Keeping everything crossed for Villa

Well said Louzie.

Some press coverage.

Quote
Randy Lerner leaves Aston Villa in the dark

RANDY LERNER is not expected to fly in next week and will announce Aston Villa's future from 3,000 miles away at his New York home.

Villa's senior management are in the dark about what billionaire Lerner intends to do with the club. And they do not expect him to be getting on his private jet and be at the club in person to say whether he is selling.

Only a statement, filed to the club's media department, is expected from him.

Lerner has become more and more reclusive since buying Villa for £62million eight years ago. He was regularly at games for his first three years of ownership but is rarely at matches now, watching instead on satellite TV at his luxury home in Amagansett, New York.

He did make a visit to the club and training ground recently but kept the trip secret, spoke to no media and said via a statement, printed verbatim, that he would announce his plans for the club when the season finishes.

Lerner did not confirm or deny he was selling, leaving Villa in limbo but is thought to be looking for buyers himself.

Now the team is safe in the Premier League after another poor season there is no reason why Lerner, who is worth £1.5bn, could not bring forward his address to the nation to this week, but there is no likelihood of that happening.

There is no comment from the Villa board on the situation and manager Paul Lambert admits he does not know what is going on.

One thing that does stand out is that, if the senior management and Lambert have no idea what is going on, then we'd better hope something actually *is* going on, otherwise it all looks a bit of a shambles.
