There's a bloke on the site that dare not speak its name who is convinced that the Arabs are a coming to take us over.

Mind you there's also someone on there who believes that the Moon landings were faked and that the Queen is a lizard.
Everyone knows Stanley Kubrick shot the moonlanding footage.
As for the Queen. Yep...I buy that.

Yes come to think of it, you don't get any flies buzzing around Prince Phillip do you?

That's because there are no dots to join - there is no deal. Up for sale? Maybe. New investment? Maybe. The announcement of a sale, with no-pro leaks? No chance.

I'm starting to wonder whether Randy's announcement was purely a means of deflecting attention from the team over the last couple of weeks of the season. We've done little other than go on about a potential takeover ever since.

I predict this announcement will be the dampest of damp squibs possible. A squib of monumentally damp proportions.

Reputations will be shot to pieces on that other site, still cannot understand why Lerner would let this thing run though, a same as usual announcement will destroy st sales.

Andy Gray on TalkSport has just said He knows for a fact there's going to be no investment next season.

How he knows that I don't know

Lerner said when he took over in 2006 that if he couldn't make it work and push the club forward that he would stand aside and let someone else takeover. I think we've certainly reached that point, so I fully expect him to sell and I think a buyer is already lined up.

It will depend on how much Randy is prepared to write off.

If we got sold for say £150m (top end) then he would need to write off c£100m.

That's a lot of money even for a billionairre.

The evidence is painfully thin;

We have a small website proclaiming to have insider knowledge, we have two stories in the Guardian and Telegraph and we have Lerner's lack of denials.

To me, the latter two sources would merely suggest what we probably already know, that Lerner is going to announce publically an intention to seek new owners/investment. There is not a single shred of primary evidence available to suggest a takeover is in process or as claimed, has been completed.

If the latter is the case though, it would have caused no damage for Lerner to have already come out and said that.
Alternatively though, a new owner in the pipeline who will bring his own men in, would be destabilising mid season and would undermine the manager.
I'm still firmly believing we are in the due diligence part of a potential takeover

Didn't someone post that auditors reports had been sent to an American third party and a few seemingly knowledgable posters said this was probably the start of due diligence reporting for the potential bidders?

Or did I dream that?

Lerner's statement could also be a farewell and sorry for the last few years. I have been actively looking for someone to take the club forward and we are nearing completion on that deal.

Then a couple of weeks of wild speculation from us before new owner enters stage left.

And that means me spending the summer writing and talking about Villa when I just want to forget the buggers for a couple of months!

On the Thursday prior to the supposed statement if we were being sold I would bet the press would have it now.

Its time like these I wish that the collective Villa supporters groups were still around. Somewhere in an archived folder on my laptop there’s a template press release that starts ‘We note with interest’ just waiting to be prepped and sent out.
As with the takeover from Randy, what is certain right now is that all this speculation and rumours of new owners and investors is likely to be wide off the mark. The only person with any knowledge right now is our Howard Hughesque owner; but I must admit to enjoying the rumours and speculation here far more than most of our footballing performances this season.
