If the takeover is for real MI6 could be knocking on the door at VP next week asking for lessons in keeping secrets.

Why make a statement about there being a statement if there is to be no statement?

It will depend on how much Randy is prepared to write off.

If we got sold for say £150m (top end) then he would need to write off c£100m.

That's a lot of money even for a billionairre.

Tough shit for him. He has ran the club terribly and when you make mistakes you have to take the losses, if he hangs around for any longer the losses will just mount anyway.

I have no sympathy for Randy, he was stupid enough to think him and his credit card cronies could run a football club without any knowledge. I don't see any reason why he should be able to get all his losses back. They are his decisions, his mistakes, his losses.

Lerner's statement could also be a farewell and sorry for the last few years. I have been actively looking for someone to take the club forward and we are nearing completion on that deal.

Then a couple of weeks of wild speculation from us before new owner enters stage left.

And that means me spending the summer writing and talking about Villa when I just want to forget the buggers for a couple of months!

I'd like to see some recognition for the fans from him. We've had the Lambert platitudes for being a yes man and the player platitudes for being crap on low wages. How about a note about the 36,000 that have paid millions of pounds to watch very very little decent football for 3/4 years on the trot.

Exactly Ozzjim. It will be something like:

"I've loved owning Aston Villa. But it's been a bit shit recently. Poor old Paul hasn't had much money to spend on wages. He's a good bloke, unlike those coaches we suspended. Anyway, I think change would be good for all of us. I'm exploring all options, including additional investment or the sale of the club. It would be great if someone would pay me back all the money I've invested (wasted). But the future is still bright, so good luck. I'm out of here as soon as possible, which might take a long time. Sorry we're still in limbo. Was that 'different' enough? Have a nice day, y'all. Much love, Randy."

Agree. Apparently, according to the accounts of May 2013 he's owed £189M. That figure could be less by now. If he gets the £200M figure mentioned, he will have got his money back plus a small profit surely?

If Randy's statement fits the same pattern of statements that he released prior to the sale of the Browns, then I hope Monday's statement will run along the lines of him stating he is currently in dialogue with a party/parties regarding a sale.  We know how Randy does business: he always tries to maintain integrity and privacy so I'm not at all surprised no journalists or staff have had  even a sniff of what's going on.

If Randy's announcement runs along the lines of him saying there will be no changes at Villa it really will be an example of the most cack-handed way a club could communicate with and manage the expectations of its fanbase.

On the Thursday prior to the supposed statement if we were being sold I would bet the press would have it now.

Indeed, I fear this statement will be the worst possible news now. We're up for sale but there are no prospective buyers, so we're in limbo with no money being spent on a pathetically weak squad.

Like I said, that would be totally pointless.  If you announce that you will be making a statement on a certain day then you have to have something more to say than "we're going to plod on in the same way as before".

The Team at Bodymoor Heath also seem to think this but really no one knows anything not even Paul Faulkner .
