We will be sold in the summer and get a new manager.   Pretty exciting really.

Let's hope so, because if we're not we are absolutely buried.

If the announcement Is that he is looking for a buyer then that just about sums his ownership up, out of touch. At what point during the season did he decide he wanted out? Was it when we didn't celebrate the Southampton nil nil like this decades Tranmere?

If Lerner's big end of season announcement is only "I'm willing to listen to offers" then that is even worse than just bobbing along like we have done the last few years.

It means another season of minimal commitment all round.

Honestly, if he says that, I am going to immediately lump a large amount of money on us to go down.

The thing is I don't care about other clubs, Aston Villa are one of the biggest clubs in English football and it is completely unacceptable that as a club we have about as much organisation, planning and funding as a jumble sale.

Dear Santee Claus.
Please give us a new owner, manager, and a good wedge of cash to spend so we can crawl back up to being average again.

Yours sincerely,

You're right Paulie, if that's all the announcement is, Randy is hardly gonna want throw more money at something he no longer wants. Equally, what would be the point in sacking Lambert and paying out compo? It simply HAS to be something more. I hope!!!

I don't believe that'll be the statement, purely because I think it'd just anger the fans further.

It's sad to see how far apart we are from Man City now in the last 4 years. For much of O Neills final season we were in direct competition with them and Spurs for a top 4 spot. Ever since we played them at the end of that season (and we'd actually gone one up thanks to Big John and looked good value for it). They of course won and went above us.

What the fecking hell has happened to this club? It's about bloody time we were competitive again.

The fact that Lambert has neither been sacked nor given a new contract gives me hope Lerner has sold up. Lambert's position is to become someone else's decision.

It's not even about the gap between us and Man City - that is actually understandable.

It's about the gap between what we are now, and have been in recent years, and what is traditionally considered acceptable for us.

There is really no difference between us and Wigan in the years prior to their relegation. Cheap players, shit players, not enough quality, cling on year after year, make next to no contribution, eventually go down. And that is what will happen without major, major changes at the club very soon.

Surely at some point during the last 3 years of cut backs and fuck ups he realised that he wasn't cut out to run a piss up in a brewery and needed to find a buyer.

If he's just started now then it beggars belief and will bring more shit down on him then saying nothing at all. And as for Lambert, I can't face another season with that boring prick in charge.

If that's what's happening, and I'm not convinced it is, then I would guess he reached that conclusion about 3 years ago, but you can't demand that someone takes it off your hands.

The worrying thing for me is I don't see how anyone can buy for how much Randy would need to cover his investment and still justify throwing the extra £50-60M at the squad to shift it back towards consistent top 8.
On the other hand I don't see how he can afford to write off over £100M to sell us at around a fair market price.

Catch 22

I can't believe that Lerner will simply come out & say he's looking for a buyer, we know he is. There's no need to say it publicly & it's only going to be counterproductive to tell the world.

I also find it hard to believe there's someone out there prepared to spend the £200m+ Lerner will want on us. But the getting the house in order & the transfer of debt point at it being a possibility.

What is more likely is that he has someone prepared to invest or he's' selling the name of the ground for sponsorship.

I wouldn't read anything into Lambert not being sacked during the season. If McLeish from February onwards, or Lambert last season from Christmas didn't get chopped, there's no way he was getting his P45 this year.

The world is full of new billionaires that want a slice of our football.  Given our size and history, we are prime targets.  £100m + and Randy will cuts his losses.
