For all his faults Randy has done some fantastic things off the field for Villa. I hope he sells up because his heart is no longer in it, and I hope we get an owner, a DoF and a new manager with the common goal of getting us where we should be on the football side of things. But whoever he sells to I hope they respect the history and tradition of Villa in the same way that Randy has done. The last thing I want to see is a Vincent Tan, a Venky's, a Hong Kong barber or a porn merchant

Lerner is not going to sack Lambert, in the event (unlikely in my view) that he sells this summer or whether he stays.

God knows we've had enough Black Saturdays

And Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays...

Yes unfortunately, in the past 4 years, way too many. I hope the next chapter is one where Randy has sold the club to someone who carries on much of the work done off the field. That is very Aston Villa and very important. Our work in the community needs to remain strong. But the new owners need to have a good idea for the on field future of the club. Get some astute minds in to help run the football operations side of things a bit like Man City have. You can have all the money in the world, but you have to know what to do with it. I was thinking the other day of someone like Gareth Southgate in some capacity. Or someone like that who has a good head on his shoulders and thinks about the game carefully and has as a bonus though not essential has strong Villa connections.

I personally think Southgate is a great shout.  He gets this club, and despite his shortcomings as a coach/manager a more executive/board style role would suit him.  I was massively encouraged by his comments about us in the Woody/Nord book and despite the manner of his departure he knows and respects what this club is about.

If he stays, he`s looking at a potential drop of up to 40% in season ticket sales if the season ticket poll is even vaguely accurate (based on Lambert staying on as manager + definite "no" answers). if he does stay on, i think PL HAS  to go, just to keep the club from financial ruin.

I don't have a problem with how he left. He fancied a change and Boro turned out to be a good move for him in as he played in a European Final and became their manager. I know he took them down but they should have stuck with him.

Those polls are never accurate, though.

It has been that way every year for the last four years on here but the numbers hold up relatively well.

Agreed, but i think i`ve spoken to more people who have said no and mean it than i`ve ever known before.

I would welcome someone like Southgate into the fold (not as manager obviously). I've always liked the bloke

I'm not overly fond of the idea of getting SGT back involved though, nothing against him but i'd rather have fresh new ideas

Things will move pretty fast after the Spurs match I think, as they did two years ago. The club has been sold to a new owner. I don't think things look good for Lambert as it's clear Lerner hasn't bothered to consult with him much over his intentions, so i think the new owners will bring in their own manager.

Why decorate your house when someone else wants to buy it and decorate it to their own taste once they move in? Just cut the fuckin grass and fix the front gate.

Because just cutting the fuckin grass doesn't cover up the scuff marks on the fuckin skirting board or the fuckin peeling wall paper on the landing.

I've put some fresh coffee on.
And bake some fresh bread

Our cat's just turned 17 and, having been litter trained all her life, has taken to going on the door mat.  There's an overwhelming smell of piss as you come in.  We were talking about what we'd do if, as is becoming increasingly likely, we have to sell up and leave London.

Not sure how this relates to the sale of the Villa - maybe Ken Bates is on his way.

This is my wife's excuse for not ripping out the yellow and green 1970's Villeroy & Boch bathroom. I have to close my eyes while I am having a piss

Sounds more like Lerner trying to save Lambert's job for him.

I think there's some of that - or at least he wants it known that Lambert has done what was required of him.  Assuming he's out of a job, he doesn't want a blemish on a young manager's record.

He seems like a decent man does Lerner.  I suppose very wealthy men should be, they've got no excuse, but even so things like Acorns made me as proud as anything else Villa could have done.

What difference would it make if he had consulted Lambert?

Its all about compensation now.

Not a great sign that Hopadop.  I don't know what age our old cat was but, we had her for 17 years after she wandered in to us and decided to stay, despite the protests of Mrs S.  She had been someone else's cat because she'd been spayed and never soiled in the house and we never had a litter tray.  Towards the end she started to soil all over the house.  It was one of the most upsetting things I've ever had to do when the vet decided there was no more she could do.  As a grown man in his late fifties at the time, I shamelessly wept like a three-year-old as I held her as the vet put her down.  It came about six weeks after my mother died.

Nowadays, as I'm in my sixties the main concern for Mrs S is whereabouts in the house I'm pissing!
