I think there's a 4th option which has been missed.
Lerner stays but has brought in some outside investment / business partners / sponsors etc.
The Turkish Airlines Stadium or Villa Red Bulls of Aston etc etc.
I think this would be more likely if Lerner was still interested. Any new sponsor that would put in enough money to make a difference would want to make sure that the Club had the right leadership so that their investment was being looked after.

I think its quite obvious he's been preparing this club for sale for quite some time. Now; mission accomplished.

Although I agree that it's more likely to be option 2, the chaotic way the club has gone about virtually every major decision over the last few years leaves me with so little confidence that option 1 is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Option 3 makes would certainly make no sense.

I think the lowering of the wage bill along with the equity swap has been the getting the house in order part. I think he's probably been looking for a buyer for a couple of years now so hopefully it will be that someone has agreed to buy the club.
Yes there is a likely  tax advantage to selling equity rather than have debt repaid and repatriated to the US. Looks like  there has been some tax planning.

Why decorate your house when someone else wants to buy it and decorate it to their own taste once they move in? Just cut the fuckin grass and fix the front gate.

Because just cutting the fuckin grass doesn't cover up the scuff marks on the fuckin skirting board or the fuckin peeling wall paper on the landing.

I've put some fresh coffee on.

Any news yet ? Been out walking the dogs, lovely quiet walk along tha Ashby canal, basking in the glory of our safety, actually looking forward to our miraculous 4-0 win at the Etihad on Wednesday.
In the cold light of day trying to work out how we have got to where we are and what is going to happen is mind blowing.

I suppose the Villa equivalent would be setting fire to Darren Bent.

A new owner, a football man on the board and a pre-agreed new manager would do nicely.

After all this conjecture, I'm expecting some major news...if it turns out to be along the lines of 'we go again' but with no change in the cost cutting policy then I smell big trouble.

Des, I posted on Saturday that you were my hero because of your positivity when all around we're panicking.  Now, you've gone the polar opposite.  Stop it!  I'm still in a good mood.

I believe the announcement at the end of the season will probably be outside investment and having representation on the board.
I do see an appointment of a DOF, leaving Faulkner to get on with the commercial side of things.

I don't think Lambert will be sacked either, but might walk if he does not receive substantial funds to buy quality players.  I reckon, like us, he does not want to go through another season like this again.

Well I expect it to come a week today. He clearly has something to say so the sooner he does, the sooner we can get on with rebuilding the club.

In the NFL it is Black Monday. I think it will be a Black Monday for Lambert as Lerner clears the decks for a sale.
