What are the odds that whoever buys the Villa has less wealth than Lerner ?

Ellis Short has, reportedly, at least double the wealth of Lerner.  It hasn't been enough to turn Sunderland into big-hitters.  I wouldn't expect any prospective new owners to be of the Citeh/Chelsea/PSG money no object variety.  I'd be satisfied if we could just get an owner willing to invest a reasonable amount and bring in some people (CEO/Coach/DoF, whatever) who know football and their arses from their elbows, whilst also respecting the traditions of the club.

As others have said its not the amount of wealth someone has but how it is used. It's a tough one as Randy took control over our club and like so many people was hoodwinked into the belief that MON was the next best thing coming and gave him far too much control. An absolute fortune was spent on the team and other things behind the scenes and then it went tits up. I think the last 3 or 4 years have deflated him.

A new owner with less wealth but that same original enthusiasm and hopefully a good football man we might just get back somewhere to be proud of. Randy tried and I still like him and am grateful for a lot of things but for us to move forward he needs to be either with us and want us to improve or try and find the right person to do this.

Admin/God/Morgan is back on TBAR; prospective new owner was at VP yesterday according to his informant.

Fine. I'm buying the club. There, the truth is finally out!

Sorry to disapoint you but Randy after paying a visit to my home to view my biscuit collection offered me first dibs. He said 'Crumbs that's a cracker of a collection, the club's yours, at least you'll keep the team yo yo ing.'
So it'll be me hob nobbing in the directors box next season.

I'd be happy if the guy had less money than randy. After all it's not the amount of investment which has been the problem, it's his hands off approach/lack if leadership and football knowledge which has held us back.

I'd guess we've spent more net than most clubs since he joined. Arsenal, Spurs and Everton for a start and I'd be to be in any of their positions right now.

There were 37000 owners at Villa park yesterday and we all have a plan. Just need someone to invest money to make it come true!

As John E stated, there must be something going on, if Randy was still going to be here, why the need for an announcement, surely it would just be business as normal and Mumbles would be mumbling about what he intends to do next season, the only other thing is that Randy is staying and Mumbles is out of a job, something quite possible, but who we get then as manager God only knows and if the parameters stay the same, who would actually want the job.

We'll hear the announcement quite quickly I'd expect. We've seen Lambert do his transfer business very early on in the piece so if he is going to be sacked I'd guess the trigger will be pulled more or less as soon as the season ends. Similarly, for any announcement from Lerner because of that.

Well I expect it to come a week today. He clearly has something to say so the sooner he does, the sooner we can get on with rebuilding the club.

Anyone got a link to Lerner's last official statement on the club website.

After all this conjecture, I'm expecting some major news...if it turns out to be along the lines of 'we go again' but with no change in the cost cutting policy then I smell big trouble.
