Can we turn it in with all this boring talk about other websites and who has been snidey to who?

This is the internet, where lesbians are hot and there are pictures of cats in bread, it's not real life.

I agree, I don't have a problem with Drummond at all - I've met him several times in the past and is a very affable chap.

It just doesn't help to feel insulted by someone who hasn't taken the time to visit the place and see who is there. If you are to make a generalisation, it's a bit like saying things akin to, by means of example: all Guardian readers live in London...

Sure, there are people who don't see eye to eye - and you'll never get on with everybody.

13 pages?

I'm not sure I can be arsed to read it all. Someone tell me, is it just gags from us about them or is there something worth reading? I really can't be bothered to go on to that site given the likely membership.

As a founder member of "that likely membership", may your next turd be a hedgehog. You bull's pizzle.

Oh it's all your fault then.

Nice insult though, congrats,

No Drummond, but condescending remarks don't help a matter. Bearing in mind that part of the reason the site was created was because a few were fed up with being insulted, belittled and being uninvited to present their opinions on things, I think this demonstrates it quite well.

In other words they could dish it out but they couldn't take it. Is that why one of the ones who set it up has tried to come back on here at least half a dozen times under different names since being banned? Still, if we're the bad guys and they're so wonderful you won't bother coming back will you?

Dave,

I am not responsible for the actions of other people... I am unaware of what has happened, and what has been done. I can't condone it if that is the case. As you know, I'm an infrequent poster in here due to the nature of my job that takes me all over Europe - and it's quite regular that I don't have an internet connection with me, so I am not up to date with current proceedings.

With this in mind, if you want to explain what has happened, please feel free to email/PM me to bring me up to speed. I'd prefer a diplomatic solution over anything at any stage...

What's happened is pretty much what you've seen but I do object to this place being criticised, particularly when it was the actions of certain people who have moved elsewhere who caused it in the first place.

Anyway, putting aside all this takeover nonsense, internet spats, political infighting etc, can we clear up the important business of exactly who this cartoon character was?

Ellerman Travel. My first trip abroad (Benidorm late 70's) was with them. Thank you Doug .

Yep, bought by Poly Travel, later Lunn Poly, bought by Thomson. I used to work for them. Does that make me a contributor to the invention if the bicycle kick?

Somebody out in the fen between Chatteris and March bought one of Doug's old holiday coaches.   It still has Doug's livery hiding under all the sugar beet spray and bird shit and is used as a school run bus for the offspring of the carrot crunchers.   It was upside down on its roof beside the 100 foot drain a couple of years ago but it is is back in service again.   If you ever find yourself driving across the fen towards a slowly moving cloud of thick black smoke, you are behind Doug's bus.
