It's a bit unfair to attribute positive actions to somebody else and pile on the negatives which may not have been down to Hollis.

His specialism was to go into dysfunctional businesses and sort them out. I think we are starting to see some clearing of the fog that has been blanketing this Club.  However,  I will wait and see the final outcome of a sale and what goes on shortly after before passing judgement.

If passing up on spending in January enables the Club to be sold to a decent new owner, I would go with that.

Newcastle were in a far better position than us and went for it big time. In fairness they have got very close, but if they fall at the final hurdle they will be well and truly fucked.

Whilst I am still angry about our January surrender, I can see why rolling the dice may have been considered as too risky.

I still reckon they will stay up, even if they don't I do not forgive our boards January surrender. Shameful.

It was shameful.  But the point remains that even with their big punt they are in an incredibly precious position.  If they don't beat Spurs they are down. If Sunderland beat Everton or Watford, they are down.  They may regret making their big gamble more than we regret not making ours.

Sunderland only need 2 draws to guarantee  Newcastle come down with us and Norwich.

If Newcastle do go down, we might find that they've bet the farm on staying up and would be entirely reliant on a Mike Ashley that over the last 12 months has seen his net worth shrink by over £1 billion, mostly due to the share value of Sport Direct tanking, but also a pretty hefty reduction in cash and liquid assets (no that doesn't mean beer) according to a report over here.

If they really have got the likes of Shelvey on £80K per week and no relegation clauses, they're going to be in a world of shit. They'll have to make a decision on stick or twist whilst they've got a one year's free hit at promotion without worrying about Football League FFP rules.

I heard a rumour today that some sort of Hedge Fund was linked to us being taken over.  Why does that make me feel nervous.

Mirror are running Chinese Investment group with venture capitalist in the story.  Complete in the next 2 weeks.  With football currently in huge growth in China it makes sense to buy clubs here. If they are cheap with good infrastructure but need solid leadership and direction I am sure there is a tidy profit out there in the long term.  Especially if you can get back into European football and attract decent names.

Hmmm, Chinese venture capitalists?
For a start it seems the biggest contradiction ever.
And then, it sounds a bit scary and a bit 'flimsy'.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Venture capitalists ......

Ruh roh.

If true the downside is they would be looking for a return on investment.

The upside would be VC's generally believe in the talent principle. So would likely go out and get a proven high profile manager.

Getting Brian Little on board if it was him that did it. Can't think of anything else.

What's Little done of any note though?

"Little"?

Fucking hell.

Lerner said last week that he wanted to sell to people who had the best interests of the club at heart.

If it turns out to be a hedge fund who are all about the £££ then I struggle to see how he can reconcile that.

My only really knowledge or understanding of VC's is related to those fuckers the Phoenix group who screwed over the Rover Group.
There must be good ones out there? Yes?
