I don't feel terribly confident but it's winnable.  I think we're capable of panicking them at the back and scoring a couple, and with Vlaar we may be able to defend a lead. 2-1 to us

I feel the same way. I almost dread match days now and I can't quite explain it. There have been arguably worse Villa sides than this but I don't remember having less confidence in one.

It's the opposite of us under MON. We had a decent team, not the best, but no matter who we played, I felt confident of getting a result. How quickly things change...

I feel similarly. It's been a long time since I was confident going into a game.

They've had a poor run of results as the manager keeps changing the formation and they are desperately missing a creative no 10.

As for us,

We've had a poor run of results as the manager keeps changing the formation and we are desperately missing a creative no 10.

A defeat for Newcastle today and they will implode. All want their owner to sell up, most want Pardew out and reading their forums, a lot don't give a shit about the game.

If Lambert is true to his word and we go at them "from the front foot" as we did against Liverpool, we can get something from the game. If we allow them time to settle down, allowing their returning players to ease their way back in we'll get stuffed.

It all depends on which Aston Villa turn up today.

And on whether Lambert goes the Liverpool approach, in which we try and win the game and play positively, or does an Everton and doesn't attempt to win the match against a team that had its deficiancies. Everton's last 3 games, they've played all right but without any strikers the opposition hasn't needed to play well to beat them. Another opportunity lost when we played at Goodison I feel.
