If one were to believe the papers then Pardews job is on the line in this game. With that in mind I'm not sure we can hammer the final nail in the coffin of his Newcastle career. I think he'll do enough to keep his job for another week. Still can't see them winning it though.

Everywhere around us Premiership managers are getting the chop based on results and performance.  We deliberate over a new contract for ours.

All the clubs that have clipped (sorry - just started watching Sopranos!) their manager have been below us, haven't they?  Spurs being the obvious exception.

Adkins at Southampton?

Adkins went last season - I was referring to this season as that's what I thought the original post I responded to was getting at.

Great poll options. Far better than my usual boring ones.

Still above us though when 'clipped'.

I don't want it to sound like I want PL clipped too, just that it's odd that other clubs around us are reported with their manager under pressure and we are looking at a contract extension with our survival in the league anything but secure unlike Newcastle's.

It's been debated to death on here, but as things stand I don't think we're a realistic candidate to go down this season.  We were last season, so if anything I'm surprised he survived 12/13 more than I am at the present time.

I guess it's about the owner really as Norwich are below us and also in danger, yet I can't recall much speculation about Hughton's job being under threat either.

Maybe for another thread and completely off topic, but I find myself doing the Paulie Walnuts "Ooooooh!" with accompanying hand wave in mock outrage at soamething quite a lot.

God I love the Sopranos.

We play better away from home and Newcastle will attack us, so its all set up for our master strategy (which is the only one we have got) of counter-attacking - win for the Villa 1-3.

1-3 win. Newcastle look short of confidence at the moment.

I love the way the pre match thread is full of optimism and then 20 minutes into the match thread it's "ffs villa this is fuckin awful".  I just hope we can turn up for a whole game for once or even 70 minutes or so.  We won't get away with a first half playing like we did against Cardiff that's for sure. I'd take a 1-1 now.
