Could see West Ham struggling oddly, just don't think Big Sam's recent signings have been that good, at best they are a mid-table team, but if teams improve around them they could be down there this season.  Their home form could be key, sometimes Upton Park can be a very tricky away ground, others it plays into the away teams hands with the fans putting added pressure on the Hammers.

I think two of the three promoted sides might stay up, which means we are hoping for someone from the likes of Swansea, West Brom or Sunderland to hit the buffers.

Still be early to tip the bottom three as the transfer market is just kicking into gear.I certainly think we will be there or thereabouts for the drop.I don't see how we will turn  our horrendous form from the end of last season around without more quality added to squad, should be lose Vlaar we will be in big trouble.

We have three new signings, three of the bomb squad back in the fold and the return to fitness of Okore, N'Zogbia, Kozak and Benteke. Obviously people will have different opinions as to the quality of a few of those players but we certainly have a stronger squad. Also, the Culverhouse and Karsa situation has been sorted. I am not going to pretend I am wildly optimistic but I think we have some basis for a little bit of optimism.

Looking on Oddschecker I see we are between 16/5 to as low as 2/1 to go down. The only ones shorter priced than us are Hull, Albion and the three promoted clubs.

Sunderland haven't signed anyone of note, they'll be down there again. Swansea aswell. After that I'm struggling.

And the leading Sack Race odds are: 4/1 Alan Irvine, 6/1 Alan Pardew, 6/1 Sam Allardyce, 6/1 Harry Redknapp, 12/1 Paul Lambert, 14/1 Garry Monk
16/1 Nigel Pearson, 16/1 Ronald Koeman, 25/1 Gus Poyet

Monk is super value at that price, he looks miles out of his depth.

A takeover and Lambert is gone. West Ham will keep Allardyce until they move into the new stadium.

Wonder what club Moyes will be in the hotseat in by Xmas?

Fulham at 10/1 look good value to win the second tier.

Yeah think Swansea could regret that change in the long term.  Still think it will be awhile before we see Moyes back in Football, unless its taking Hansen's job at BEEB.  Don't think any of us can predict Lambert's future right now.  It looks like he is on burrowed time, but who knows how long this take over will take, and if we have a decent start then he may still have a future.

@MatKendrick: Luna, Tonev & Carruthers are the notable absentees from the #avfc squad in Texas. And Vlaar, of course, who is having a well-earned rest. And Robinson.

"burrowed time" Commence gags based on rabbits, carrots, maybe badgers.

Should we have a one big tour thread or are we having separate pre/match/post-combos for each of the US games?

The 'USA Tour Thread' might be a good starting place Mr Sox.

Got my tickets sorted for the Walsall friendly. Family outing with my wife, son and daughter. Big event as it is usually just my son and I that go to games. He loves going to Walsall due to the McDonalds being a stone's throw from the ground.

I too really enjoy the Walsall friendlies, always take a huge following and we get to see at least 3 or 4 Villa goals. Been the last two years but haven't been able to this year - no money being a broke student and can't convince my usual party to come with me.

Haha, I always have money aside for the prem games! Just not quite wealthy enough to justify shelling out on a friendly.

Oi

Just spotted your sly comment Mr Shin. I'll have you know that my post on here was what inspired the setting up of the Tour Thread.

Is a long walk back from Stoke, you know..............

Can't believe what ive done...ive renewed for next season...mind you £321 for P8 is a bit if a bargain..whatever league we are in!

I've renewed. Unfortunately that's just the way it is.

I love sitting in P8 it's a great view for the money.
That's one of the major reasons I renewed, good place to sit.
