tbh the three calls a week thing just makes  the decision to keep him even harder to understand unless he reserved hitherto unknown powers of eloquence , passion and motivation just for Randy. It's just possible, though, that Lambert might be able to  repair his  reputation at somewhere like Elgin City, but even that post might be beyond his natural capability.

I see the press are touting him and Hoddle as replacements for Poyet at Sunderland.

Poor bastards, haven't we done enough to them already?

If there's any hint of Spurs selling Andros Townsend this summer we'll be in for him like a shot as Sherwood has mentioned him about five times in various interviews.

Beyond that I don't know what our transfer policy will be this summer. At a guess I'd imagine we'll still concentrate on getting young players in.

I think he wants Grealish or Sinclair to be his Townsend. I mean why spunk 7-8m on Townsend when you have the we have for a combined 3m say, and N'Zogbia coming back into things? Townsend is good but I'd rather develop the players we have.

Both Grealish and Sinclair have a lot to do to convince me. Sinclair may have scored 3 goals already but I'm still not convinced by his all round game. He wasn't involved much yesterday. I accept he needs games and by the end of the season my view may have changed. Charlie looks a bigger threat going forward, but he only turns up a few times each season.

I like Townsend
But Townsend isn't involved much in the games he plays either. There's a reason he's nicknamed Forrest Gump. All he does is get the ball and run in a straight line to the byline. He had a great spell for a month or so over a year ago and hasn't come close to replicating that since.

Decent enough player I suppose but hugely overrated at the same time.

Yep. I believe, like a lot of players, he was killed by England hype. He came in, had a good spell and was suddenly touted as the next big thing for England. Sometimes players hear stuff like that and take their eye of the ball somewhat. He's not been the same since and he's now just a rotation player.

Saying that, if we did sign him I would fancy TS to get him playing well, based on what Sherwood has done with Gabby and Zogbia in particular.

I just saw that http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11695/9761820/gus-poyets-sunderland-future-uncertain-ahead-of-talks and had the same thought as you - as if their week wasn't bad enough! Poor sods they don't deserve Lambert.

Anyone think Lambert could keep them up if he was given the job???

I wouldnt be at all surprised to see Sherwood, if we stay up, go for Caulker from QPR. I was looking for something else and came across an article with Sherwood raving about what a great character he has.

Must be the most overrated player in the league

Would have Onouha all day ahead of him and wouldnt rate him much either.

He'd only keep them up by virtue of QPR possibly being shitter than them. I honestly couldn't see Lambert picking up a win if he went there.
Furthermore, whilst I'm glad to now repress all memory of Lambo in charge of his, he does seem a decent fella and it obviously took a lot out of him managing us. He'll give himself a heart attack if he goes straight to Sunderland. He needs a rest. He's better off picking up a League 1 or Champ job in the Summer. He'd be bonkers to go to Sunderland.

They look like a Lambert team already. I can't imagine getting the real thing would help them one bit.

But we know that Townsend has got it in him to perform at exceptional levels, even if he's so far only done it for a couple of months.  For that short period he was probably the most effective English player in the country, and he was instrumental in the World Cup qualifying campaign.  He then had a fairly lengthy injury which halted his progress.

I rated Caulker at Spurs. His two transfer moves to first Cardiff then QPR haven't done him many favours. A bit like the timing of Keown leaving Arsenal for us and then us for Everton.

A rest and a re-think.  If he does get another job, he needs to surround himself with a good coaching staff because he showed that when he is on his own, he just hasn't got the tactical or motivational skills.
