Let's get Lambert back in charge, my only distraction from the terrible football was coming to this thread

On my travels around East Anglia today I was met everywhere with the rumour that Lambert is going to Peterborough and asked if there was any truth in it.   My reply was that bad though he was he is free to travel anywhere he chooses.  If they meant going to Peterborough United my answer was may God have mercy on you.

If he goes to a team in the Championship or lower, we'll be watching that side in year or two wondering what ever happened to him with us? With much less pressure he'll promote a very different picture to the broken down individual at Aston Villa. His team in League One will pass freely, score plenty and look confident.

Lambert will be good enough at something somewhere. He didn't have good years at Colchester and Norwich entirely by accident. The level and challenge of Villa was well beyond him, but he'll do something.

Pretend lambert is still in charge. What would be your comments post match today, assuming we had suffered the usual 2nd half capitulation.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

As poor as Lambert was, I never expected him to relegate us. I found it strange the way he totally gave up this season: failing to recruit a new assistant after Keane left; half-heartedly introduce a completely new style of play in the middle of the season; and so on.

Things were pretty shit they two previous seasons, but at least he someone found a way out of the quagmire on those occasions. This season he was completely clueless and hapless.

I think he was punch drunk after taking one too many on the chin as our manager. I suspect the towel being thrown in for him was partly a relief.

His bizarre decisions this season make more sense if you believe the rumour he'd asked to be sacked twice and Lerner refused to pull the trigger.

If it was that bad he could have walked

It reduces your payoff if you walk.

It was all a bit soft in the end, the bloke was just completely deflated and his team which is left behind is also at rock bottom. I would never have predicted this from a character like Lambert.
