He bought us on a whim, and runs us on a whim. Yesterday he was selling up. Today he's staying because he's having fun. What will tomorrow bring - apart from more ineptitude, detachment and irresponsibility.

That's brilliant Jimbo, and exactly the sort of question that needs to put to Tom Fox at this Forum thing.

I am convinced that the four year contract was a gift from Lerner to secure Lambert a good pay off from new owners. The only responsibility Lerner appears to have for the Villa at this time is linked to the manager. His stewardship of the past five years has been contemptible and its manifested no more so in his complete lack of ambition, which isn’t worthy of this club. The disconnect he feels filters down, which is the only explanation for why a manager, who should have been sacked several times over, remains in the job.

His only responsibility is misguided however. He feels sorry for Lambert for the tough financial constraints he has imposed. £9 million spent to improve a side that gained just 38 points, so he gifted him a ridiculous contract extension that the manager had done little to earn, as a thank you.

So instead of doing something about that guilt, by releasing more funds if they’re available or injecting an objective greater than finish 17th in the league, he has boxed himself in.

After paying the Blues £5 million for the most bizarre managerial appointment in the clubs history, paying him several million in compensation when he sacked him 11 months later, he now faces a similar problem.

We have a failure of a manager who should be sacked and would be sacked, if it wasn’t going to cost Lerner three and a half years worth of wages.

The list of stupid decisions Lerner makes seemingly has no end, but his most recent one appears be the beacon signalling all his chickens home to roost, as we stand a very good chance of being relegated.

Excellent post, couldn't agree more. Again, this is exactly the sort of thing that needs to be put before Tom Fox.

In the next instalment of Ads Travels of Torment I have the following to report.

It’s now been 1570 miles of driving following us since I last saw us score a league goal. So if I decided to hop into my car from my house here in the north west to find goals elsewhere, then I would have 67 miles to spare should I want to take in a game at Naples.

Cluj seems to make the Champions League from the Romanian divisions, so I could perhaps drive there to see the onion bag being molested? Either way, that’s a mere 1539 miles.

I am not sure what the football is like in Minsk, but to be honest, driving to Belarus to see a team play there, while being arrested for sedition and having by nads hooked up to a car battery, would probably be less painful than watching Paul Lambert put another team out. Either way, I could make it.

I could drive from New York City to Dallas and have some room to take in the country side. A pathetic 1548 miles, and they say everything is bigger in the states.

With another 170 miles up for grabs at the Factory of Sadness Mk II, it wont to be too long before I can drive across the continental United States.

Well done Paul Lambert!

This is good. Should go in the next fanzine.

Time to unfurl a few banners I think. He won't communicate with us we should at least be communicating with him.

Yes. I a perplexed at this. Despite the absolute horror of the Lambert reign, and 90 odd percent wanting him gone (most since about 2 years ago), there have been no real chants, no banners. Do people think that anything will be done by not buying the programme?

He'll be gone by Sunday night.

How come Tim Sherwood turned Smethwick down ?

Can't think of anyone else out of work ...

Lambert is still waiting for his Bolton moment I think - I've hardly been this season due to family stuff but at The Liverpool game it felt like it could get ugly without much provocation. Its difficult to support the team but attack Lambert/Lerner as well.

it will NOT get ugly this weekend either.
Too many daytrippers, and half and halfers.

By the time the hardcore home support starts to give Lambert the shit he deserves, there will be very few home games left.

I think he'll limp on until the Hull game next Tuesday but if he loses both Chelsea and Hull and fails to score - well, let's just say the situation will have become too ridiculous.

but does that reconcile itself to the decision to give him a silly sum of money to spend on his namesake?

Strong words from the God:

Hate to see the club I love in the state it's in at the moment , needed investment four years ago , Villa now in panic mode . Disgrace UTV.

When this man talks with this depth of feeling, the club needs to shut up and listen

Sack him, anything is better. Even TSM1 was better than this.
