I am convinced that the four year contract was a gift from Lerner to secure Lambert a good pay off from new owners. The only responsibility Lerner appears to have for the Villa at this time is linked to the manager. His stewardship of the past five years has been contemptible and its manifested no more so in his complete lack of ambition, which isn’t worthy of this club. The disconnect he feels filters down, which is the only explanation for why a manager, who should have been sacked several times over, remains in the job.

His only responsibility is misguided however. He feels sorry for Lambert for the tough financial constraints he has imposed. £9 million spent to improve a side that gained just 38 points, so he gifted him a ridiculous contract extension that the manager had done little to earn, as a thank you.

So instead of doing something about that guilt, by releasing more funds if they’re available or injecting an objective greater than finish 17th in the league, he has boxed himself in.

After paying the Blues £5 million for the most bizarre managerial appointment in the clubs history, paying him several million in compensation when he sacked him 11 months later, he now faces a similar problem.

We have a failure of a manager who should be sacked and would be sacked, if it wasn’t going to cost Lerner three and a half years worth of wages.

The list of stupid decisions Lerner makes seemingly has no end, but his most recent one appears be the beacon signalling all his chickens home to roost, as we stand a very good chance of being relegated.

100% correct, in my opinion
Lerner is the real villain at our club.

He's certainly the one who's really messed up. For all of Lambert's terribleness, his appointment and continued employment is the responsibility of the chairman, along with his lack of backing.

A very fair summary of our lot under this disastrous owner. The word that best describes his stewardship of the club is whimsical. He bought us on a whim, and runs us on a whim. Yesterday he was selling up. Today he's staying because he's having fun. What will tomorrow bring - apart from more ineptitude, detachment and irresponsibility?

Time to unfurl a few banners I think. He won't communicate with us we should at least be communicating with him.

Irresponsible, that words sums up Lerner for me.

He bought the club and threw money at it, like a lottery winner splashing out on fancy cars, but doing nothing to protect his investment. There was nothing put in place to help us grow, there were no people employed, from the top of the game who understood football to get us to where he wanted us to be. All the hard work, the parts that take time and planning, they weren't taken in to consideration, it was virtually all about throwing money around and leave it all up to the manager.

The last 5 years would have taken some seriously hard work to balance the books and get us growing again, where has he been? He's not interested. There's talk now of putting systems in place, thanks a lot it's years too late, you've already pissed fortunes away and we have nothing to show for it. It's very much been an amateur operation trying to run this club. A mate in a CEO position he wasn't qualified for, Krulak as another yes man telling him everything is fine, now Lambert is his yes man telling him what he wants to hear. If it wasn't for the HUGE Tv money increase we would be buried.

We are an institution, one of the games great names, we may not be as relevant anymore but the name Aston Villa still warrants a lot of respect and admiration in the world of football. Look at how the majority of former players who have turned pundits talk about us, almost with more expectation than we ourselves have. To have an Owner, who has run us as a hobby and one that he's not particularly interested in at that is shameful. He fucked up and rather than front up and fight to get us back in position he held up the white flag and retreated and detached himself from his failure, leaving it to a string of managers and an out of his depth CEO to take the flak.

His loyalty should be to the name of this club, that he owns and represents not to a manager he feels sorry for because he's a nice guy who hasn't been given hundreds of millions to spend. A new manager, not another dreary nobody with no experience or a record of failure would have given the support something to believe in again, as it is they'd rather take the easy option and let things roll on, avoid the flak, avoid the hard work and let Lambert front up.

He's having fun again is he? I couldn't give a shit, I don't believe him anyway, they are false. Besides were not a toy for him to pick up and put back in his box when he's bored. There's a whole history, a name, a heritage to respect and adhere to. People who have gave their careers to this club, fans, players people who have respected us and gave us their all. So for every time someone mentions he done up the Holte Pub or gave us a mosaic I now remember that he also ran us irresponsibly like a millionaires plaything he quickly got bored of, I no longer believe he gets us, is honourable or respects our heritage because every time we get hammered with his yes men running the show it's two fingers up to our heritage because he simply hasn't given a shit enough to do anything about it.

Lerner out.

That's absolutely spot on.

He seems to change his mind on a regular basis, although in his defence, at least his mood swings have become less extreme if he thinks this is him being "engaged".

He's everything we wished the Russian at Chelsea and the Arabs of Man City would be, but aren't.

Yes, who knows, future technology might keep me alive until I'm 150, so I might yet see the fall of Man City.

Is Elon Musk into football?  If he bought Villa we would be like the Jedi Knights to the Sith Lords of Man City.
