Even in the darkest depths of our situation, there are a handful of managers I would put even below Lambert in the 'wouldn't want them to even be considered' list. Holloway, Pulis, Warnock, Di Canio, Jewell, Coyle, Irvine, Pearce...actually, that's rather more than a handful, but i'm not quite in the "anyone but Lambert" camp.

I would agree on all of those except Pulis who I would much sooner have than Lambert. In terms of his record at Stoke and Palace, I'm suprised anyone wouldn't. Ok the football was cynical at Stoke, but whilst Lerner still runs the club, who gives a shit. He's perfect for a no spending, no frills outfit like we are at the moment.
The thing is, the football at every club, across the world, at this level, IS cynical.
Spuds were struggling and did us over, then Hull, then some other lovely team. They went shooting up the table and apparently added a side to their game that had been long lacking. (cheating? not being outplayed? outcheated?)

I don't think for one second we're going to get special awards for being cuddly and honest and spiffing.
I've always said: if we won every scrappy game 1-0 Villa Park would be full and we'd all be a lot happier.

Pulis's Stoke/Palace didn't do it every game, but they did a lot of it and the fans enjoyed the success that came with it.

They did, until it stopped working. One of the creditable Lambert results was that drubbing we gave them at home in his first season. The Benteke goal where we swarmed at them showed Pulis up for what he had become - reactionary, staid and one dimensional. He had spent a lot of money to stand absolutely still, and the fans knew he'd been found out.

If we did get a replacement, I'd hope it would be of the Head Coach variety, rather than another politician coming in talking about the situation he inherited and making excuses from the outset.

I agree. There's not much time left to right this listing ship, and a change has to be positive right from the start. He'd have no transfer window and little room for error - target winnable games and get something from them. It's momentum now, then from the summer, the club's yours. Not the best example, maybe, but almost like Hodgson getting England before Euro 2012.

At the point I'd take someone new in hope the new manger bounce would get us a few points on the board.

I just don't see ,taking the last 12months into account how Lambert can turn things around. The guy has no clue and is STILL working with no assistant manager ..

With you 100% curious...which is why I keep saying I wouldn't want a Pulis type long-term either.
I'd just like a manager who was tactically aware enough to use the players he has to something approaching full potential to make things hard for the opposition and to maximise our own chances of winning games/getting results.
Lambert has consistently proven to me that he cannot do the above.
Pulis did it pretty consistently for most of the time he was with Stoke.
(This does not mean I'm a Pulis fan - my point is I think I'd rather have this at the moment than Lambert's version of whatever it is supposed to be!)
Not pretty perhaps, but effective to a degree.
I'm fed up of constant struggle and being done over all too easily like we were today.
The players are better than they are/have been showing for some time.

Genuinely, the thing I'd take from Villa right now is a matchday when I don't know if we'll win or lose. Because at least that would suggest there were signs of life rather than an acceptance of our fate.

Aston Villa at the moment through our Premiership status are a brand that is known, we are coming out with these names, but there will be many out there who would jump at the chance, whether or not our Board would identify them is another matter, but one thing is for sure where we are now we are a more promising option, than where I feel we will be, come May if Lambert is still here.

On that I honestly think if Lambert does not go and go very quickly, Randy intends to keep him even if we go down, or unless we are sold then the new owners could not be a stupid as this guy is.

Also on money, I would be totally surprised if there was not a buy out clause in his new contract, but this lot are full of surprises are they not.

Pbav I think it is becoming clearer game by game what a monumental screw up Lambert's new contract is. I think there are no performance clauses in it and they have effectively given Lambert the keys to the safe. He does not give a shit because he will wave ta-ta to Aston with a lottery winners cheque in his pocket and Fox and Lerner have no choice but to big him up because to do otherwise would highlight their unbelievable bungling. Its a car crash about to happen with nobody at the wheel, all in the passengers seats.

Agree totally Brian, says it all when on transfer deadline day I looked at the Lambert thread first as even if we signed Messi and Ronaldo he would put their careers into a nosedive.

Of all the total "what the fucking hell were they thinking?" moments over the last 4 years, that one is in a 2 horse race for the most bizarre - you can probably all guess what the other one is :(

Can I make a suggestion to the administrators on here! We have a poll regarding Lambert on here which everytime gets more and more clear the feelings of the fans on this site! As a result lets use the data and email it or write every Monday morning to Mr Tom Fox and keep doing it!

The protest was the wrong idea and match days aren't the right time too! We have to use the media too send the letters to them too! We can all complain on here but where does it get us! We have to try something to get our message across

Btw did the guy who wrote the letter to Tom fox get a reply! Another idea could be to setup a petition or all of us send an individual letter posted to Tom fox with an agreed form of words! If we got 1000 fans to do that or more that would send a message

We have to try to take action

Now I think in modern day football manager's don't get enough time, but fucking hell Lambert bucks that trend. He has failed in virtually every possible way and he must go.

Whoever comes in (and it will happen one day) needs to be a strong. Somebody to shake the place up and build a structure. All levels of the club are going backwards. A Moyes or even Pulis would do this. Lerner really missed the boat not going for Moyes while he was out of a job.

The 'ZZZZ' protest is the best I've heard on here.
