If Lambert lucks his way to the final and wins the cup off the backside of the ref I'll forgive him for all of this recent pain. I'll mount a picture of him above the mantelpiece.

If he does that AND keeps us up I will do the same.

Exactly. Iwant  us to win the thing but I'd swap a Cup for survival any day of the week.

A small piece in my father's Sunday Telegraph says that Lambert will not be sacked if Villa lose today. It is categoric and headed "Lambert safe even in defeat".
It says "Lerner is understood to be fully behind Lambert and believes he is coping admirably despite financial restrictions ... There is a realisation within the corridors of power at Villa that they need to do more to assist Lambert...."

Not the description of a club about to offload its under-performing manager.

Fuck survival I am fed up of that. We survive every season. Win the cup and I will name my ...er...garden after him.

I'd dress like Princess Leia in Return of the Jedi and spend the rest of my days chained to him.

Happily.

Winning the cup and going down? Wigan ?
Not sure how I'd feel about that to be honest. Probably a mixture of joy and sorrow .

It's amazing what a few good sides going out of the cup does. We can't score a goal at the moment let alone realistically think of going on a cup run.

As for Lambert being safe, as far as I am concerned it has boiled down to the simple equation of if they keep him they lose me. Today is the second successive game I have chosen not to go to Villa Park. There is no reason why I should not go, I just don't want to. That has never happened to me in sixty seven years and three months on the Holte. Just one fan Mr Lerner, that's all. You stick with your grand plan and your grand manager. I shall spend a stressless day planting daffodil bulbs and I shall not even bother to learn how Aston Villa coped with the mighty Bournemouth.

Why would you not want to know how we've got on?

What? We are playing at home in the 4th round of the FA cup and a die hard like you not turning up? Why are you letting  passing ships in the night in the history our Club affect you like this?

Will the bulbs flower this year Brian? I'm always late planting.

He isn't going anywhere it seems.....

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/11367359/.html

Oh dear. So they want a new director of football? The DoF is in charge of signings, the one thing that's going well. It's like Lerner has never heard of 'coaching'.
