Lambert is a dementer.

Watch what happens to Gil.

Or when Sanchez starts to understand English.

Theres no chance of that

I can't understand lambert neither , I can just work out excellent and we go again.

The only people that can/will put pressure on this lazy chancer are the fans now. The press follow the status quo, if we say and do nothing then neither will they, there's no story in it for them. The Chairman just needs a yes man to keep things ticking along until someone gives him some money back, minimal fuss, minimal contact, minimal effort. Look at the publicity when the press got a sniff of a protest, they were all over it for days actually looking in to what boring Paul is doing a little bit. If the fans stepped things up a notch or two that's the only way I can see us getting rid of him.

He won't walk, he's not man enough to admit his many failings. Things have to get VERY  bad before Villa fans react though, so I see a struggle against Bournemouth, two twattings by Chelsea and Arsenal and then the fans to turn in a dour game against Stoke.

Lambert is a dementer.

Watch what happens to Gil.

I fear he'll sink in to mediocrity with Lambert guiding him. Can Gil speak English or is he only able to speak with Carlos at present?

Lambert is thinking about starting Gil at the weekend, following Saturday, does it need any thinking about? Even if Gil tires after and hour, at least get him on early in place of Cleverley.

He won't walk because managers pretty much never do these days, for financial reasons.

The only way he will go is if Lerner makes that decision.

Lerner gave him a four year contract three months ago. Lerner clearly has lost any interest in the club now beyond a wish to not have to spend any money. Changing managers, especially those with a four year contract is expensive.

I actually don't think he'd even sack him if we got relegated (something I am starting to think will happen this season).

You could say to that "yes but Lerner will lose more money if we go down" and you'd be right, but that assumes Lerner is clued up enough - or paying enough attention - to realise that is a real possibility.

When we had McLeish, there were spells when I checked the news every morning half expecting to see he had been sacked. With Lambert there is no need to. Unfortunately we are stuck with him.

I am in my mid 40s and can remember other times of misery for us, and what it is like to get relegated so am not going to start saying this is the worst I've felt about the club, but I'm struggling to recall many times at which I have felt so negatively about where we are going.

There really isn't a single thing to be happy about regarding villa of late. Clutching at 15 decent minutes in a game every now and then isn't anywhere near good enough.

I just wish someone at the club felt the same.

There won’t be a fans protest, as a number of years of expectation reduction, combined with insipid displays have kicked the stuffing out of us to such an extent that we don’t have it in us. Life at Villa is very easy right now for the players and Lambert. We’re a ghost ship and providing we do just enough to avoid the rocks, we will keep on going.

Lerner obviously believes investing in a couple of new players this month will keep the fans happy and Lambert will start earning his corn as results improve. What he fails to see is it's a case of pearls to pig(s), Lambert isn't smart enough to get the best out of his players.

I definately see Lerner trying to keep the status quo until the summer. Only then will things change; either he finds a buyer or he will let Lambert go. Either way, he knows he'll look an idiot if he fires Lambert now having only a few months ago given him a 4 year contract. He may, like Lambert be out of his depth but he still has his self-pride.

Mark, I honestly don't think Lerner gives that much of a toss anymore. Certainly not enough of a toss to care too much about keeping the fans on side.

Remember his summer statement? About how it had been one thing after another etc etc?

He has made it pretty clear he has had enough.

Avoiding relegation is the full extent of our "ambition".

Oh absolutely. As I said, his only objective is maintain the status quo until he finds a buyer. Yes, avoid relegation and if the manager says he needs a couple of new players (that incidently may keep the fans off his back), let him have them, just make sure we're not relegated.

I wonder if Lerner would agree if you showed him the results from this season and told him"we're not scoring enough goals". Surely even he'd be able to see it, though I would bet my lifesavings on it.

I actually really respect Brendan Rogers and think he talks alot of sense but again he closed ranks with Lambert after the game and said Lambo doesnt have enough funds to improve us and the Villa fans have unrealistic expectations again.

My expectations are as follows;
To be entertained, win, lose or draw. I expect to see a goal at Villa Park at least once a season. Due to bad game selections I havent seen this as of yet
I expect us to beat smaller teams who come to Villa Park. Its not always going to happen but I expect us to have a go at them
I expect the odd good cup run. Granted we get these now and again but the manner which these have ended have been galling.
I expect us to be comfortably mid table
I expect us to be able to hope for better

I cant believe im out of line with most of our fans. Its a lazy bloody line that will stick if enough of them say it and I personally dont think it s true

I am not sure that the Lerner does not care or even that  he has not worked out the financial implications of relegation.

I think he is paralysed by fear, he has got so many decisions wrong that he is unable to face making another.

Either way it looks like we are stuck unless Villa Park really turns on Lambert and I don't see that happening either.

After the match Rogers was strident in his criticism of fellow manager Paul Lambert. "Yes I know he's not had a great deal to spend, but if I was a Villa fan I would be pissed right off," raged Rogers,"just sort it out Paul, for fuck's sake, or move aside for somebody that can".

It would be good to see that but very strange.

Top tip Randy. Give any pay rise you were thinking of in the form of a new contract for Delph.

Priorities Randy, Priorities.

page 3 of the lambert thread. Sigh.

That sadly sums up how I feel. We are stuck in purgatory and there's no sense that it's going to change in the short or long term.

Just think of the feeling of relief though when Dumb and Dumber leave the club though, that's something to look forward to.
