I voted for, 'give him till Christmas' and I did.  After last week it was bad enough.

Yesterday Gil had a big impact, but we didn't score and we lost again.

The manager is accountable for results.  The lack of goals contributes to that.  The new signing (s) may have an impact but this season is now in its 6th month, so this is an old problem.

I think it could be a lot worse right now, as in, we could be floating around the bottom 2 places of the League, but I see Villa sliding down there if something doesn't change.

I know it's unlikely that he will go but I am really struggling to see why he is still at the Club.  The players haven't frozen him out completely though, so maybe this is a factor that is persuading Randy that he can still turn things around.  Then again, when did players last go public about an inept manager en masse?

Very much agree Louzie.
I can see why the players might defend him for is his X factor interview technique - irrespective of quality, he always says the players have played well (sorry - "excellent") and couldn't have given more.
As fans we can clearly see that some of them have been complete shite - I hate to say it - Gabby - but he still insists on talking them up (sort of understandable, as their manager), and selecting them week in, week out (completely baffling).
Players are not going to turn on a manager who tells the public/media that they are brilliant every week!
As a manager, I think it's one of his better tactics. :-(
Cleverer than applauding the owner, thinking back to Mr O'L!
Finfed'sDad, what did the players do? I've forgotten, late on a Sunday night!

As I say, I stand firm by what I say. People who continue to support Lambert are doing nothing to support the club. It's like giving your backing to Yono's unwanted influence on the Beatles; it'll just in tears.
This is plain silly. Most of us backed Lambert to start with and with time we have changed out mind. People who still back him are every right to do so.
Maybe, but they are completely wrong. And nothing will prove me wrong.
You're in a position in which you can't possibly be proven right either.

even just on MOTD2 Henry Winter was sympathetic to Lambert's tough role with a want away owner.

I know, it makes you want to spit. Even more so when you find yourself agreeing with robbie savage, who seemed to understand our situation .

I'm sympathetic to his tough role with a want-away owner as well. The fact that his role is tough doesn't mean that he gets a free pass at doing a shit job though.

He has had loads of slack from the fans for the situation. Now he is milking sympathy to hide incompetent management.

His credit balance ran dry a good while ago. Being anything other than McLeish afforded him loads of love and the goals we were scoring at the end of year one filled many of us with hope. Coupled with the spending caps he got a lot of slack. Well the last 18 months he has pretty much done all of the goodwill he built up. Add the bullshit excuses and reasons for everything being as it is most of us who supported him through the difficult times are simply done with it. I want him gone as soon as possible because like McLeish, anything is better than Lambert right now.

McInally was defending him as ever yesterday on Soccer Saturday saying the small amount spent on Gil was indicative of the lack of budget Lambert had spent. Stelling, in fairness, retorted "Sean Dyche at Burnley would love to have £3m to spend on a player" but the consensus was that in Lamberts' time probably only Burnley had spent less than us. Which excuses everything apparently.

I'm not even sure it's true but before comparing net spends surely you have to take into account that the base squad Lambert had to work with was a lot better and more experienced than Burnley for example (the under-achievement with TSM being the reason he got sacked) and promoted teams have to spend big just to get onto a level footing with clubs already established in the Premier League.

Yes he has been hindered by limits on fees and wages, but he's actually spent quite well. Which is the problem, we have an okay team thanks to him, but we are utter dreck to watch, thanks to him. One day the pundits etc will work that out. Then again they probably won't as many still believe we only wanted McLeish gone because of where he came from. And these clowns are paid to part with such knowledge.

every possible argument on this has been totally exhausted. The **** is still here and will stay here even if we finish bottom. He will only go when Lerner goes. The two are inextricably entwined in a deadly, club threatening embrace of mis-guided loyalty from the owner and  craven, cowardly greed from the manager.

Yes, I read that earlier on teamtalk.

http://www.teamtalk.com/aston-villa/9651648/Premier-League-Paul-Lambert-insists-he-is-not-feeling-the-pressure

He's as bad as O'Leary and his Arsenal love-ins was; babbling on constantly about his Dortmund days. Can't we just swap him for Klopp?

Also this;

The guy is an absolute wanker.

And some people wonder why it's impossible to hate him as much as it is O'Leary? Albeit for different reasons, I can't stand the twat
