even just on MOTD2 Henry Winter was sympathetic to Lambert's tough role with a want away owner.

This sort of thing should serve as a reminder of how idiotic these journalists are, even the ones from the broadsheets. Winter is a very poor writer in my opinion, his match reports consist of 90% rambling on about some pre-selected theme with a cursory paragraph on the match itself in which you might find out who scored the goals if you are lucky.

What I've never really understood is the absurd football media detachment from what is actually going on.
I'd love it if we had a supporter who's been to the game in the MOTD studio to tell them what the fuck is going on.

Then again, that's a terrible idea.

That is exactly it.

Lambert's absolutely right, there's no pressure. And that's half the problem. He knows he's been in no danger whatsoever of losing his job; the players - especially the likes of Gabby, Cleverley etc - know their place is assured, lose, lose or draw. Whatever you do in life, you perform better under pressure. It's the force that pushes you on to better things. Humans have known this for thousands of years. It's fundamental stuff.

The fans have taken humiliation after humiliation and have been worn down to expect nothing but brainless, barren football. We can't even protest coherently. We're in a state of apathy bordering on paralysis. The media, misreading the situation as ever, are sympathetic to Lambert's plight. Either that, or they simply can't be arsed - we're Villa, we're shit, and what's more, we deserve to be shit.

So, on it goes, a cycle of rock-bottom expectations, inevitable failure and misery. Wake up, Lerner, make it stop.

The other thing I have noticed is no journo's seem to think we are in danger of going down , have they not seen the results from the end of last season and this ? We are appalling in all departments yet he gets a free ride , Wenger gets more criticism and thats a guy who has actually won things in his time as a manager !!

''Listen, if you saw me before the European Cup final - that was pressure,"

These might not be the most important games of your life but they're fucking important to us because we're sick of having the piss taken out of us. So pull your finger out of your arse, realise the importance of the situation and get some passion and verve flowing through the side you boring, useless, bosses boy.

One period of play Saturday epitomized our approach and the real need to change as either the coaching or motivation just isn't there. Cissokho had possion of the ball out on the right with 3 Liverpool players ready to close him down.  We had 3, Weimann, Benteke and Gabby  altogether in the center circle, nowhere near Cissokho.  We lost possession naturally.  Why wasn't Gabby there to help or at the very least in a position to offer an outlet?  Lambert either doesn't want running off the ball or the players aren't motivated to do it.

Not sure how much he has to spend but when you think in the squad Saturday. He already had gabby , Weiman, nzogbia, Delphi , Clark, Hutton, baker , given, bent on loan , guzan he brought back for free and then the money for players he's had on top of that , he should be nowhere near as shit as we are are.

Half the squad is still pre lambert . He's had enough money with those players to have us at least score some bloody goals.

I just wish he would play bloody 442 for a change with attacking wide midfielders / wingers . And two up front .

Why can't he just play good old W-M, anyway. None of this 'midfielder' nonsense, what's wrong with half-backs? Bring back the pyramid!

We made a valiant attempt to bring back 'hacking' over Christmas, so maybe 'back to the future' is the new way.

Well said. It's getting so frustrating I could cry.

So hes not feeling any pressure.

Now hes finally morphed into the fuckwit O'Leary. So it's official - we're fucked.

That's it for me as well. There's a good enough group of players there for us not to be struggling like we are, it's ridiculous.

As has been repeated many times, does Lambert get more or less than he should out of the squad at his disposal. It's very clear he gets a lot lot less than he should. Therefore he should  and must be fired.
