Either way we are on to smash Derby's shambolic 20 PL goals in 38 games .

I'm not disagreeing that our record is shit, just that the 2 extra games can't be used in that comparison.

Anyway, we'll score 5 against Chavski and all will be fine. Honest.

I don't think he is doing anything because he dislikes us, but it is hard not to say that he has set the bar extraordinarily low for this manager, and still seems more than happy for him to fail to even meet those low expectations.

Lambert has had at least five or six extended periods of awfulness, any one of which would have got any manager the sack, but he gets a new contract.

Seriously, I actually thought not long after the start of the season that we'd seen the back of Lambert's uncanny ability to break records for shitness, if only because he'd run out of shitness records to break. I never thought he'd put together almost nine hours without a single goal, let alone a win. But Randy thinks it is fine, clearly, or this idiot would have been out on his arse ages ago.

The manager is a clueless idiot, but the man who lets him persist is either too stupid to spot it, or he just doesn't give a shit. There is not another manager in the league who would put up with the shit Lerner accepts.

It is beyond a joke now though Paulie. Even a disinterested owner that wants out would look at it and think, you know what a new man cannot do any worse than this, and if it carries on I am going to lose 40 million overnight on the price of the club. I used to think we would bounce quite easily back up, but this lot will struggle badly in the Championship next season once you take Delph, Benteke, Sanchez, Vlaar, probably Guzan, Okore and on the evidence of today Gil out of it.

Oh away with you. McLiesh was a poor manager, but what he aflicted upon us is noway comparable to any of the several delegations we've been through.

Apply Occams Razor to Lerner and stop ascribing malice to decisions that are far simply explained by incompetence.

If he was getting anything like the best out of that lot, he'd have a right to moan about transfer funds or injuries, but the fact is, he gets absolutely nowhere near the best.

A half decent manager could get that squad 10th without even trying. I note, looking at the table, that it's really not too hard to guess roughly where we're going to be, based on the last 5 games, in a couple of games time.

The bloke got us excited, he has had 2.5 years, which is an extraordinary amount of time for a manager to be given, and, contrary to all that fickle bollocks, he has had remarkable patience from the fans, but it just has not worked, and it has been shown to not work for almost the entirety of that 2.5 years.

I looked at that starting line up today before kick off and just knew what would happen. But he keeps doing the same thing, week after week. It is indefensible, it really is.

It's shit right now and Lerner has done some fuckups. But does anyone really believe he is prepared to write off, what, £50-100m?, just to spite a few fans? Hard to guess what getting relegated would cost him, value of the club etc.

As for the worst ever, when we're heading for division 3 with no training ground, no pot of any kind to piss in and struggling to get crowds of 15K, then he'll be a contender for worst. He's just crap/not rich enough.

Oh away with you. McLiesh was a poor manager, but what he aflicted upon us is noway comparable to any of the several delegations we've been through.

One thing I will say is that, thus far, this season feels very much like 86-7 to me, and I saw most of our matches that season. It all just smells of disorganisation, of neglect, of bad decision making.

There is just an air of something rotten about the club. In 86-7 there was a big emotional gap about the club because the manager, who was struggling, just felt detached. Now it is the owner detached from the club, and the manager detached from reality.

We keep on looking at bunches of fixtures and thinking "winnable games", but it never happens. We need to think about managing to score before we even think about winning matches. It just looks a bit desperate to me.

Even the "positives" we try to take seem to be getting more and more trivial. Like today. Played OK for 15 minutes. That's 15 minutes against a truly mediocre Liverpool side who managed to hold us off.

Really, if that's the very best we can hope for, then I think we're headed for a really bad place, probably the same place we ended up in 86-7.

No, of course not, but that's really just a bit of a distraction. No, we haven't just been relegated to division three, but things are pretty grim all the same.

Is he vindictive? No.

Is he utterly clueless and incapable of even identifying a problem, let alone showing a willingness or ability to fix it? It looks like it, yes.
