It's shit right now and Lerner has done some fuckups. But does anyone really believe he is prepared to write off, what, £50-100m?, just to spite a few fans? Hard to guess what getting relegated would cost him, value of the club etc.

No, of course not, but that's really just a bit of a distraction. No, we haven't just been relegated to division three, but things are pretty grim all the same.

Is he vindictive? No.

Is he utterly clueless and incapable of even identifying a problem, let alone showing a willingness or ability to fix it? It looks like it, yes.

So we're agreed then *winky*

I get the feeling he is willing to write us off. Regardless of what happens to us he will still be rich.

If he wanted to write us off he could have walked away last year.

Wouldn't his family/trust have something to say about that?

I just think he is unwilling to make a difficult decision. Simple as that. When you are the other side of a fecking big ocean, it is not reality and why make a difficult decision if it doesn't need to be in your world.

I think Villa are owned by him directly rather than the trust.

Wasn't he using trust money though?

And I wonder how much he's really in the hole for from his time owning us.

Right; I wasn't sure. The exact amount probably isn't known but £200 million seems to be the accepted rough figure.

Just watched the movie 'Whiplash,' the demonic music teacher who demands nothing less than perfection from his students says "the two most dangerous words in the English language are 'good job.'" Made me think of Lambert and his 'we were excellent' comments.

(Good film by the way.)

It's just bloody odd. What the hell has he got to lose by changing the manager, the results couldn't be any worse.

We're going round in circles now lads with this debate, meanwhile the club is circling the plughole to the Championship and unlike those actually rather enjoyable days in the third division where we regained our pride as a club with that semi final win in front of 65000 against Man United etc.relegation this season could be terminal for us as a top division club.
We can argue till the cows come home but the buck stops with Lerner and that scares the shit out of me ! To The

Anyone hear 5 live. Host and Danny mills both agreed that Lambert was a good manager!

I heard that. Talking utter utter shite.

I heard a bit of Danny Kelly's show on TalkShite, and all his token thick pundit Danny Higginbotham could offer was some guff about "when I was at Stoke we knew if we could keep it tight then the Villa fans would soon start getting restless. Every opposition manager knows that".  So there you go everyone, stop griping about Lambert's tactics and his record, it's actually all our fault. Imagine how silly I feel.  (Kelly also thinks Agbonlahor is "good".  Funny, it's almost as if they haven't actually seen us play recently.)

In the sense that he's not doing it through vindictiveness, yes, that would make no sense.

With Lerner it just looks more and more like rank stupidity.
