Very sad to see this written down but true:

"But when they see paralysis on the pitch, empty seats multiplying around them, lesser clubs comfortably out-spending them, players refusing new contracts, and hear the same lame excuses when their fears are aired, breaking-point is reached.

That’s what’s happened at Aston Villa."

What's the betting that if the Holte End is empty for the first 8 minutes that we somehow manage to score a goal?

1000/1

i wonder if they'll shut off the Tv's downstairs?

I seem to remember Kendrick becoming explicitly anti-Lambert a few weeks before the end of last season, not long before he got moved off the Villa reporter job.

Not really a coincidence since Lambert started ignoring Kendricks weekly jabs.

It was best for everyone. The Mail couldn't keep a reporter who openly has contempt for the manager and is in turn ignored by the manager every week.

Kendrick is a real Villa fan and a top bloke. I don't rate him as much of a writer. Edit: Although come to think of it he is a pretty good live commentator.

Before criticising any modern football writing, please bear in mind the ludicrous workload they have. The Mail staff effectively have to do three separate match reports plus Twitter.

Or, in their eyes, rewarded for doing the absentee owner's bidding - sniffing around for free transfers and basement bargains because Lerner’s not prepared to put another cent in.

What about Gil? Think he was a bit more than a cent, or does the money come from Sky etc?

I suspect a few Small Heathens voted for Lambert to stay in the Mail poll.

Fair enough. I couldn't do the job as I can barely write , let alone write well. :)

Did you see the 'ickle table he used for his press conference?

See that table Paul?
See that table?
You could fit all your friends and supporters round that table right now Paul.
That's the biggest and bestest table you will get for a while Paul.

Read an article earlier and in the comments at the bottom someone was pleading for Gareth Southgate, FFS do people not recall how he left Villa and the fact he took Boro down, no thanks. Lambert in for me.

I know a high-profile manager who was interviewed for the Villa job in the summer of 2012 and wanted to take it... until Lerner told him how much he’d have to spend on new players and salaries.

He laughed and declined.

Are we talking Rafa Benitez or Gary Rowett?

Lambert in, in general? Or Lambert over Southgate?

Both.

I hated Mcleish from day one, not just because he managed the Blues, but because I knew he was a terrible manager who played awful football. I genuinely believe Lambert deserves a chance, it was always going to take 3-5 years and I think we are improving. Sack Lambert who did we get instead?

I'm not going to knock you, I wish I still thought like you because that would mean there was hope still in me.
