Quote
"When you are dominating the game and the lads are patient, then it's a bit strange," he said. "The goal was a great goal and I knew the way we were playing we'd get something.

"They are entitled to say what they want.

"I've had it all my career at times but it doesn't do the lads any good, it doesn't do the team any good. The players have been great but don't get me wrong, they'll be hurt by it.

Lambert on the sidelines during his team's FA Cup third-round clash with Blackpool
"We had a lot of the ball and you just have to keep knocking on the door. You have to keep patient and building up and all credit to the team for doing it. We were not struggling."

Yeah I can see those are insane comments. He really unloaded his full fury on the fans like a mad dog there. Its like he is stamping on the face of Aston Villa with that screed.

Don't you think what he's started coming out with lately is weird though Ciggie? It's in total contradiction to everything he's said the previous 18 months, things he said everyone was wrong about and didn't matter.

I can see us making a strange assistant appointment. No one sane with any ambition will join as the boring ones number two.

We found the twot out two years ago...it's the board that are blissfully in the dark. He must be laughing up his sleeve when he feeds the press utter bilge like this.

We did indeed. A complete and utter idiot now and then

Yeah it is.

Although the way I see it its more a return to the kind of manager he was when he joined us. IE: Go through 2 or three styles a season.

Part of the reason I have my new found Lambert support is I have been banging on about playing a possession game for what, a season and a half now? I would be a bit of a twat if I criticised him for actually doing it.

But yes he does talk some bollocks and justify bad decisions.

His comments:
He's protecting himself like he protects the players when they play badly and poor team performances ...irrespective of result, opposition, quality of play etc

We see the stuff on the pitch every game so know it's bollocks...the rest of the world doesn't, so his comments today, following a 1-0 win against a Championship team, seem to be perfectly appropriate and acceptable.
He simply removes most of the context so it all seems fine...or "excellent".

He clearly knows it isn't, but seems totally incapable of doing anything about it.

That's the thing. Why change to a new style now? Especially when he's spent ages arguing against the need to do so.

He's picking weird teams too. No creativity at all v palace and no thrust v blackpool. We need a blend

Yeah he's losing it a bit I reckon. Most managers are a bit deluded but I don't know what the hell he's on about there

The world outside of B6 will look at the result and think job done though.  They won't care about the 88 minutes of eye-bleeding rot that occurred beforehand.

This is the most annoying thing for me. The lack of pressure on Lambert from the media. When Pardew was under pressure, it was absolutely everywhere. Lambert has done an equally shit, if not worse, job and no-one cares.

Even Pardew could point to some good times at Newcastle. That always gave him some breathing space, even though the fans there never really took to him.
As yet Lambert hasn't had any good times. He's had the odd good result, but by and large the only consistent runs we go on are consistently bad ones and we've finished 15th twice in a row (and will finish somewhere similar this season).
Lamberts had such a piss easy ride and there's still all too many sections of the media and rival fans who seem to buy into the notion that he's actually doing a sterling job. They've not had to witness 38 games a season, most of which is dilge though and our restricted budget is certainly overplayed. There have actually been occasions when Lambert has had more to spend than he did in the end. We were possibly going to add Dempsey in the first window, but later we had money set aside for Hoolahan that went unspent, and then Cleverley who we were set to buy before the deal fell through and we went back in for the loan deal.
Randy has entirely closed up the purse strings. As far as Hoolahan for example. We appeared to be after him all window and spent too much time trying to flog a dead horse. In the end we didn't get him and didn't appear to have a back up option either.

We don't know for sure how much he hasn't spent. He could've used the loan market more though, we've only had Bertrand really. Dawkins and Holt were just pointless signings.

The pressure should start from the fans but for whatever reason we've let him get away with murder (same applies to Lerner). The Geordie fans protested a lot, and the media obviously took note.

As I think Paulie said in another thread - as the owner doesn't give a shit, why should anybody else?

This is right. The media were talking about graffitied bedsheets and slogans not Pardew and his record.

I believe S_H, that in this situation it is site tradition that you're now told to start protesting yourself?

I think he is bordering on fickle moments. It can only get worse from here unless he wins 2-3 of the next 4-5 games.
