Surely some of you must be happy with possession stats of late? Yesterday 76% in the first half and 70% overall. Isn't that incredible?

No it's all about how many goals we have scored in front of the Holte end that matters now haven't you heard ?

So you think one goal in front of the Holte End (scored by a full back) is acceptable?

It's January.
More than half of the league games have now been played and we have scored 11 goals.
Just think about that.

FUCKING ELEVEN !!!!

Palace are in the bottom 3 but have scored 20 goals, yes 20 goals
would that make you feel any better ?

Liecester have scored 19, but are rock bottom, do you want to swap with them ?
Well, yes. I would swap the number of goals they have scored with ours.
What your point?

That points are more important than goals scored

It is a perfectly valid argument.

Yes, it is a chore watching us at the moment but from a purely statistical perspective I suppose we are about where we should be based on spending and wage structure. The problem is that for a fan football is supposed to be about excitement not balance sheets.

You're right, I'm being silly. Our goal scoring really isn't a problem.

Saying we are going nowhere and saying we have been embarrassed from day one though are two different things, especially as one of those arguments seems depressingly accurate and the other little more than hyperbolic nonsense.

Pity it's all sideways though.

Your forgetting our recent penchant for passing backwards close to our own goal.

Yes it's a problem but "in front of Holte by a fullback" is irrelevant.

It's not really because it means we're not creating enough chances for our strikers.

There might not be any of the usual names who get recycled to replace him, but you're saying there isn't a manager somewhere in world football who we could attract and who wouldn't do a better job? I doubt it.

I think I could name 15 quite quickly.

Go on then

Advocaat, Laudrup, Tuchel, Cowans, Gullit, Lippi, Sven, Redknapp (God I hate saying it), Pulis, Arena, Spalletti, Rangnick, Magath (despite what happened at fulham), Pereira (employed but supposedly looking for better) and Flores.

I'm not saying all would be a success but my point is that there are many available and better.

I put Pulis in because he was available and he would have done better.

Redknapp? really?

He's rather cut off his penis with a rusty bread knife than come here

Beisla, Bilic, Tuchel, Spalletti, Pereira, Allegri, Seedorf, Flores,Montella, Rangnick,Martino, Prandelli,

Obviously that's 12, but the point is there's much better out there.

If the opposition let you have possession then the stats are always going to look favourable. Palace yesterday did not press and were quite happy for us to take twenty passes to advance nowhere. In games like yesterday a team need an effective wide player who can get behind the two banks of 4 and create opportunities.

I decided to give the Overstatement award a miss as there is just too much competition.

Absolutely. The goals in front of the Holte stat is a complete red herring. Had the toss gone the other way in some of the other games then the goals scored at the Witton End would presumably been at the opposite end. I'm not arguing that the goals aren't a problem because six goals at the Witton End is a pretty crappy statistic too but let's not be inventing and contorting stats to suit our standpoints.

Ha!
I'd list Lambert's embarrassments on here since he took over but I think I'd run out of space.
Hyperbole indeed.

No, but our points tally and our position in the league is more important

Also our defensive record is much better, you know the defence that was absolutely sieve like in the past, Lambert has done well in putting together a strong back 4 , he deserves credit for that

I still want him gone if we can replace him with a more progressive type manager, but not for a Pullis type manager who 'will keep us up' Lambert is capable of doing that, but I want more than that, that's the problem
