Suspensions affect all teams and injuries aren't exactly a freak occurrence in contact sports either.

What probably doesn't help us on the injury front is the largely brainless way we've approached the game during his tenure.  We don't make the ball do the work, which means we have to chase around more, which means players are more susceptible to stress fractures and the like.  The contact that actually puts a player out of the game for a few weeks/ months is usually the final straw.

Regardless, Lambert is Right Here.

Everyone has been praising him.
Yes I know. He has hero cult status amongst Blues and Baggies supporters and further a field he is loved by fans of top premiership teams. Like you I really don't know what's wrong with us Villains?

Why is Hutton so popular with them?

Loosely related to Lambert but thought this was an interesting piece in The Guardian on Pardew and of more relevance here, ownership and modern football in general:

Has anyone read the article on the OS where Lambert talks about how we've got goalscorers in the team and how goals will come? I started reading it but realised it was the same old drivel and he doesn't seem to be learning. It's not like it's been one or two games where we've not scored, its half a season.

I'm trying to convince a couple of Newcastle fans that Lambert is a really clever manager and we'd be gutted if they came in for him and offered us a lot of compensation.

He is a premier league manager, we are not.

I'm one who likes your contribution Westley as we're a broad church but this just smacks of being a WUM. I can quite honestly say that has to be the stupidest thing I've read on here in the last 10 years.
Exactly.  It's such a poor argument.  I'm not a film director but I'm perfectly capable of judging a bad film when I see one.

Plus the counter-argument is that while he might be a Premier League manager, he still signed Aleksandar Tonev.  And paid actual money for him.

It is a total non-argument.

You can use the same argument with regard to every single thing a PL manager does - any manager.

He is a premier league manager, we are not.

Based on that sort of logic, shall we just close the site down then?

Also, taking that argument to its logical conclusion, every Premier league manager is always right and, presumably, unsackable simply by virtue of the fact that they are a premier league manager.

Like I said at the time, he'd lost the argument and wanting the final word as always, he came out with that crap.

Every manager makes mistakes so I suppose it's fairer to judge them on them on their overall achievements.  Since we still have a low quality, paper-thin squad, play dull football, hardly ever score and don't win much the only possible thing Lambert can point to is not getting us relegated.

Lo and behold that's the only criteria by which Westley wants to judge Lambert Paul and is therefore able to proclaim him a success.  If you set your goals so pitifully low then yes even an uninspiring mediocrity like Lambert Paul can achieve them.

Meanwhile, what we want here on planet earth isn't a manager who can just about maintain our current status but someone who can improve it.  And I refuse to believe there isn't a single manager out there who could do that for us.

He needs to be called Paul though, because removing Tattoos is painful and expensive.
