It wouldn't surprise me if Lambert was instructed to try and get rid of Hutton for the sake of the wage bill. I'd guess he's a taken a pay cut to stay here as well.

I read today he never moved to Bolton not so much because of his wage but more the 'conditions' he had with his Villa contract. I don't believe Lambert or any other manager before him has been "instructed to try and get rid" of any player. What Lerner will have instructed is that they stay within a certain budget but how the manager decides is completely his decision.

Isn't that more or less the same thing though?

Maybe Bolton don't pay a win bonus. Saying that, we've only had to shell out a couple of times over the last few years. You also have tidy add-ons for 'images', not that I'd imagine there was a queue for Alan's smiling face.

I've fickled to 'Let's give him more time', not on the basis of two wins, but on the basis that he went to Bayern last week and seems to be  prepared to listen to and implement ideas to improve. Let's see if it bears fruit

I'm more inclined to believe a week without Lambert around, Keane gone, Scott Marshall coaching the lads is the more likely explanation of our recent victories and us actually trying to pass the ball. Let's face it, Lambert has had over two years to "try something different" but preferred to stick to the same failing formula and "go again".

He's the General Haig of football tactics.

I think one important contributing factor to the two victories is the fact we were playing two truly awful teams.

That's not to say there weren't things to be encouraged by, especially against Leicester, but Lambert has got the odd decent result before. Where he then struggles is in being totally incapable of putting a run together.

Let's see how he manages with that.

I am sure remaining undefeated against Sandwell and Man Ure will be down to playing another awful team and a spent force for the other.

Eh? No, it will mean that we performed better than or similar to them and we scored more or an equal amount of goals. Wind your neck in, please.

Could we not also play worse than either of those teams and still not lose? I am sure that is another possible scenario.

I dunno. According to a Spurs fan I know Tottenham did well to get a nil-nil draw against Crystal Palace as they hammered Liverpool recently!

The encouraging thing about the Leicester game was that we created more chances than we have done in previous games.

It's a nice, welcome and much needed unbeaten run but I'm remaining cautious.
