If vlaar and senderos are out of the next 5 matches, I think we will be looking at conceding four or five in at least two of the games.

Lambert gone in 5 games would be my idea of positive.

My idea of positive is five wins.

Neither of those is realistic.

Five consecutive passes which maintain the impetus of a move is beyond our capabilities as well.

Five games of mind numbing tedium - now you're talking.

My idea of positive is five wins.

Mr Negative.

My idea of positive is 5 wins, scoring at least 30 goals, conceding none, and I get noshed off by Kaley Cuoco after game.

If i can point you in direction of a Lambert interview he gave in the Birmingham Mail where he clearly stated and led with the headline "I did not come to Aston Villa for seasons of struggle" shows Lambert knows his business. It means nothing of the sort and you know it, it is just words, his record proves the contrary

“I’m not one to look after my own back, that’s not the way I am as person. The team, the club is more important than me.”

In arguably the most candid comments of his 22-month reign, Lambert cast his trademark positivity aside to finally confront a bleaker picture.

“There’s a lot of stuff that people don’t see,” said Lambert. There is a lot of stuff they do see, losing, crap football, one dimensional tactics

“Am I happy where we are? No. Did I come to Aston Villa to do this? No. But he has done this.

“This club should be higher, there’s no two ways about it. It’s got a great tradition and a great pedigree." We all know that, he is just a failure

These quotes are intended to be read by fans as to understand Lamberts feelings. Keep the faith. Lambert certainly does
There is no evidence to keep the faith. There is something called blind faith though.

I dread to think of your state of mind right now if Kaley Cuoco didn't exist mate. She may just be the difference between that last clutch of sanity, or going full blown Michael Douglas in Falling Down.

Incidentally, same here.

Whenever i buy a burger, or any meal for that matter from anywhere, i always feel like kicking off about how shit it looks in comparison to the image. It's like finding a call card with Kaley on it, only to discover when you get there that it's actually Deborah Meaden.

Mean blowy though.

Its good to get the debate and discussion far more balanced. If i can point you in direction of a Lambert interview he gave in the Birmingham Mail where he clearly stated and led with the headline "I did not come to Aston Villa for seasons of struggle" shows Lambert knows his business.

Bit late to counter this one but no one else has jumped on it so here we go:

"There's a lot of stuff that people don't see" - that's right, like evidence of training.

Everything else is the kind of stuff anyone, regardless of their ability, could say in a press conference.  If they made be manager this afternoon I'd say I wasn't happy with where we are, that we should be doing better and that I hoped I'd be able to honour the tradition of such a big club.  None of that means anything if I'm then completely incapable of delivering on that.  I'd also happily state that it was all about the club and that nothing I'd do would be to put my own needs before that of the club, I still wouldn't quit and walk away from a multi-million pound contract though, even if I was out of my depth and knew it.

To go back even further, can people stop with the 'wait until he puts out his strongest team' nonsense.  There's been 220 match day squads announced in the premier league so far this season, I'd bet you could count on your fingers how many of those didn't have someone missing through injury or suspension.  It just doesn't work like that, injuries are part of the game and something that the manager just has to handle.  Have we been unlucky with the number of injuries over the last 4-5years, yes we clearly have but that doesn't mean all criticism of the performances/management in that time should be rendered moot.

Finally the 'bigger fan than you' stuff really needs to stop, it does nothing to add any weight to an argument and serves solely to piss people off. Doing stuff on the internet with the intention of pissing people off and creating arguments is trolling.  Do it once and it can be considered a mistake or misunderstanding and generally people will accept that.  Do it repeatedly and you will get called up on it.  To then, repeatedly. make a big deal of being 'singled out' is just further evidence that your sole intent is to troll the thread. If you don't like being called a troll (or other names, some of which I do completely disagree with) then get rid of the ego in your posts and stick to argument.  Being pro-Lambert is ok (even if most people don't see how you can hold that opinion) and having people with that view serves to stop this thread just being an echo-chamber where everyone agrees with everything and it becomes utterly sterile but if you're in the minority you have to accept that your opinion is going to be challenged.

This is based on my gut feel alone but the game on Monday has all the hallmarks of McLeish and Bolton
My question is, if we perform dreadfully, will the crowd go for him? I am feeling lots of irritation at the minute but not that we are ready to snap like that.

I think there must be a good chance, my worry is that apathy will strike and people will just mumble into a dark dank Monday night melancholy.

Looking at the online ticket sales, I've got a feeling that the attendance will be the main talking point regardless of the result. I can't see it being more than 25000.

Don't think it will be that low but I expect sub 28k as Southampton won't bring any more than 1000-1500 I doubt

I think Southampton could bring quite a few, as their fans will be expecting another 'Sunderland'

it will make a nice change if the size of the crowd is the embarrassment not the performance on the pitch.

The size of the crowds is the bigger embarrassment.

Our away support is second to none, but a VP it is one of the worst atmospheres, due to lack of numbers and the Trinity Road fans.
