Speaking (writing?) as somebody who can't be arsed to go to many games, I'm more than happy to accept that people who CAN be arsed are better fans than I am. I don't see how anyone could disagree.

It's really not a competition though, is it?

If a person does not like the product, they don't buy it. If a person does not feel entertained, they do not watch. It's a choice that human beings are allowed to make. Following the club up and down the country to their inevitable relegation in 1987 was more entertaining, albeit painful, to watch than this turgid, directionless apathetic rubbish I watch with the current players and Manager. It's a choice. Would someone say that they are a better fan than a person who simply is unable to attend because of cancer, sickness, lack of funds, having to make a choice between football and their children? Are you a better fan than the man/woman standing next to you? No. You're still a fan.
I have, in the last 20 years, chosen not to renew my ST twice: in DOL's final season and this season. Reason? - the 250 mile round trip was becoming unbearable.
Having first watched the Villa in our relegation season of 1966-67, and been an avid supporter ever since, I would be somewhat offended if some jonny-come-lately questioned my commitment.

Mr.E, all I can tell you is not to believe all the negativity regarding home games posted on here. The matches are full of free flowing, attacking football played with skill and commitment and an abundance of creativity, verve and tactical nous. Plus, the programme is nice and the coffee served is not at all shabby, buy yourself a half season ticket and come and rejoin the happy throng.

As an aside, I have always regarded people who choose to go to matches as 'supporters' and those who equally love the club but don't go,as 'fans'. I do not then grade or classify further as both are as important as each other and to be honest I have better things to think about.

I will be supporting my team and manager at Burnley in two Weeks, that is the only fact I know.

So will I, but I don't come on here and mention it every other day. You're becoming a bore.

And if that genuinely is the only fact he knows I'll be surprised if he makes it to Burnley.

I assume he'll be driven there by the men in white coats...

If a person does not like the product, they don't buy it.

Football should only be referred to as a product when talking ironically about the vulgar monstrosity that it has become post 1992 with the advent of the Sky generation.

Wasn't necessarily talking about football. Could be any product.  For the record, I hate the whole sky bastardised football thing too.

To be fair Gregory left as a player to go to Brighton for £500 p.a. more.

The only managers wjo didn't get Villa were McNeill, O'Leary and Houllier and through words and actions ably demonstrated so.

Almost as boring as the Lambert out brigade, he isn't getting the sack, so change the subject and try and be more positive.

If you're bored by the 'Lambert out' discussion, maybe you should steer clear of a thread called 'The Paul Lambert thread'.
