Given the money that he has had, or not, plagued by injuries to key players, I would strongly say that he has competently kept us up when we should have gone down with the squad he has been left with after injuries.

We are now in November, following a tough run of games and continued injuries and now suspension to a key player and it is panic again.

Lambert we trust.

UTV
Or to put it another way, we can't compete with the Bradfords, Leyton Orients, Millwalls, Sheffield Uniteds, Crystal Palaces or Fulhams of this world.

I think what he's trying to say is, if we have all the luck in the world, and fall foul to the kind of misfortune that visits every team of the course of a season (injuries, suspensions etc.), then we might have a chance of seeing something resembling a decent football team

Hold on to your seats!

I've seen us play utterly shit football many times when we've had all of our main players fit. So this 'everything will be rosey when so and so is back' is complete bollocks in my opinion. We may just rise from a 1/10, to a 2/10.

Exactly

We should have had the quality to beat Bradford over two legs , I'm sure we were pretty full strength, yet Lambert didn't have a clue what to do.

Sorry Wesley Arms AV but you sound delusional....

Do people really expect to have a team fit for the whole season. That's why we have squads, there was a lot of people on here saying after the summer signings the squad looks better , which it did.

Every team gets injuries. No excuse , villas squad should not be in the bottom five and what's this hard run we just had ?

Qpr , spurs and west ham .

This is getting dull, simple question for Footy and Westley, do you think we have a bottom 6 squad?

I think when all players are fit and available we have a top 10 squad.  It is November.

I think there are 6 or 7 clubs whose squad is certantly not player for player better than villas

So that's the managers fault then.

If it was to the Conference then Randy might call him in for a meeting and express mild concern. Otherwise, no.

Is anyone else worried by the apparent Lambert disease spreading throughout all levels of the club on the pitch. While the first team was struggling in the past we had some hope watching the youth and under 21 sides doing well .We now see some heavy defeats and a rather dejected looking Sid being interviewed .This looks very much like the coaching so obviously lacking with the first team is poor at every level. This is yet another reason to start afresh but the perfect storm induced by Lerner's stated aim to sell means it's just festering due to no longterm strategy.Depressing.

My memory is pretty piss poor, but i also recall a pretty full strength team.

My memory was of 25 minutes with 4 stood in a dead straight line across the edge of the box with the defence just hoofing it aimlessly forward...the moment I thought is Lambert the man for the job.

20 months on....

No one would argue that injuries have had an effect on the team, as they would with any team, but what is not mentioned is that players that HE has purchased even if on a free, we still have wages to cost in, are not good enough to step up, even on a temporary basis.

How many players have we injured at the moment, possibly about the same amount of players HE bought that are out on loan, as he has deemed them not good enough, add to them the likes of Joe Cole who with good reason he does not play, but HE brought him to the club.

If as believed that until the arrival of Fox, Lambert had complete control of the footballing side i.e. purchases, talent spotting, his purchases at a time when we all seem to agree, there is a very limited and shrinking budget, have not proven very effective, add this to a continual perception from the outside looking in, that once an argument, disagreement has taken place with a player, they seem to disappear into outer space (Okore), that alone should see him get the boot, if money is tight, it needs to be spent wisely.

Beyond anything tangible the worst thing about the club currently is just the hopelessness of it all. There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. We don't appear remotely close to being sold, Lambert appears unsackable, at least two of our players appear to be leaving and the mentality of the whole club seems to be that of defeat.
