You don't have to be a season ticket holder, non-season ticket holder, pay at the gate or stay away supporter to realise that what is being presented as football at the moment is, shit of the highest order.  You don't have to be particularly insightful to work that out.

You have to be special needs or a blues fan to still want this clown in charge. You're entitled to your opinion Westley but the facts are there too see. I suspect your a nose.

Please do not call me special needs.  I have a family member who has special needs.

If having an opinion that is not in line with the majority gets me called a rival fan and accused of having special needs then I really do not know what to say about the masses on here.

Shocking.

Well I'm a season ticket holder and we are a shambles-believe it!

I vehemently disagree.

It is all about opinions, I however do not need to swear or exagerate to convey it.

Can you please convince me we are not a shambles. We haven't won since god knows when.I also don't care how many games you go to because it makes no difference to what you are saying.
Try taking a look at the pole at the top of the page to see what a shambles we have become.

How do you tally that with your repeated digs at "keyboard warriors"?

That doesn't suggest much respect for the opinions of others.

To those expecting a turnaround a la Newcastle. I salute your expressions of hope over experience.

Regrettably I abandoned all hope for Lambert some time ago.

The Villa job is simply too much for him and  his previous success at Norwich resulted in him being promoted to the level if his incompetence.

He has shown no evidence of steady improvement over his time at the club, which is the least we are entitled to expect by now.

If we were to get an experienced manager in I think we are capable of a mid table finish and then hopefully put the nightmare of the past few years behind us.

Some people just lack basic maths!  We last won against Liverpool in September that is two months and seven matches ago, eight if you include the Cup defeat.

Well said passport1. It is good to see a new poster who is sensible, measured, logical and astute in his/her opinions. There is too much faux trollery from new faces especially on threads like this which attempt to articulate constructive unhappiness.

You are entirely right in your comment that Lambert has failed to build steady improvement. Of all the bad Villa managers I have witnessed Lambert has had by far the easiest ride of any of them. One of the principal reasons for this I think is the endless stream of distracting side issues which mask the overall indisputable picture of decline.

Lerner's lurch from Plan A to Plan D with no Plans B or C, Lerner's endless absences from the club, the formation of the Bomb Squad, the abandonment of it, the (alleged) bullying, the departure of the old CEO, the appointment of the new CEO, injuries to key players like Benteke, Kozak, Okore, Delph, recurrent injuries to Vlaar, the crazy new four year contract - the list goes on and on of distraction from the core malaise which is declining standards of performance.

When Christian Benteke got that totally needless red card against Spurs, and when Fabian Delph dislocated his shoulder in training, and when Libor Kozak broke down in training, there went up from the fans a collective groan and shoulders were shrugged. They were more buckets of water being thrown on a drowning man.

All clubs experience bad luck and misfortune. The difference with us is that it combines to become a distraction from the core problem highlighted by passport1, namely that we have had steady decline in playing performance under Lambert.

The most depressing thing is that so many fans are prepared to put up with it.

I think it all comes down to the quality of the squad, if you believe we have a squad that are bottom four or five in quality then you can blame the person who hired them if on the other hand you believe that the squad is at worse middle of the table quality then you can blame the manager for not bringing that quality on to the pitch. Can you see where i am going with this?

Just voted for the sack him now option. The whole situation at Villa Park reminds me of the Graham Turner era, except the football this time around is actually worse.

And how the fucking hell is that anything to smile about?
The only people who can genuinely be happy with that prospect are fans and officials of Burnley, QPR, Sunderland and Crystal Palace, fans of WBA and the blues ir the clinically insane.

Oh I forgot Lambert and his agent.

Clearly not.  I am a season ticket holder and go to three quarter of away games.

Do not believe the hype.

I go to all the games and I have lost faith in him.

I win.

I can't remember why it's called the Peter Principle, but there is an HR / Management theory that says that a significant proportion of people in leadership positions get promoted, not so much based on an assessment of their skills and expected ability to thrive in the new position, but as a reward for their performance in their current role.

We all see this around us every day in our working lives, and unfortunately Lambert falls into that group.

I've said before that too many of the managers we've appointed over the years have either underestimated the size of the job, or overestimated their own abilities to cope with it. (also poor recruitment.)

What we need is someone with an idea of how to play football in the 21st century and the brass balls to implement it.  That if anything is the difference between Lambert's situation and Pardew's.  Lambert looks like a broken man buckling under the weight of the job.

Pardew, for all we take the piss out of his shit eating grin, is a cocky little bastard that apparently doesn't give a monkeys what's going on around him and apparently has the self-belief to turn things around and to try to shuffle things around to get back on track.

Lambert with his "I don't dwell on defeats" is completely missing the point of what he experienced with Dortmund.  There defeat was a rare occurrence, one of those things that happens now and then, even to a  group of highly experienced, world class players that knew what they were doing.  It didn't mean the basic concept of what you're doing is wrong.  Plus he'd got a top coach doing that "dwelling" for him

Compare that to now with us and the view is almost a mirror image.

Winning is a rare occurrence, one of those things that happens now and then, even to a  group of moderately  experienced, largely mediocre players that give little impression that they know what they were doing.
Everything suggests that the basic concept is wrong and we're lacking a top coach to "dwell" on is there something we can change here.
