talkshite were at it again last night heaping blame on Lerner and doing the hagiography bit on Lambert. Really irritating. The guy leads an inexplicably charmed life with the media and at this rate, this thread has got another four years to run. At least.

Ultimately, the press don't like Lerner because he never speaks to them. They loved Ellis because he'd happily talk to them for hours.

Ellis was also very good at making sure managers, rather than him, got the blame.
Would love you to write a book about the Ellis years Dave

Not really, but I would love someone to put the record straight about the chances we missed while he was in charge.

Gee, thanks, but I'm hardly objective where he's concerned.

Lerner wont sack Lambert because at the end of the day he was the choice of the fans.

Lerner took so much stick for his previous appointments, he is basically saying to the fans, 'You picked him, its your own fault'

If that were true, that'd be a very petty and pointless way to run a club. I think Randy has a lot of faults, but that sort of pettiness isn't one of them.

If he isn't going to sack him, i suspect it will be largely because he doesn't want to pay a big chunk of compensation out, having just given him a four year contract.

The fact he has a contract that new, and that long, is sadly another example of Randy's abject failure to get his head around running a football club. He is a man of mostly admirable, noble intentions, and in his time here he has demonstrated that with money for a decent spell, and with the things which are improved off the pitch.

The sad thing is, when it comes to on-pitch matters, at least those that a chairman can influence, he hasn't just got it wrong, he has got it profoundly wrong.

Randy strikes me as a man who inherited a lot of money but has not much common sense or business savvy.

I'm so sick of hearing Charlie and Alan on SSN blabbering on about the budget, it's really boiling my piss. They don't know shit.

I'm wondering, for discussion sake, how people would be with Lambert say he were to win / undefeated in the next 4 to 5 matches. Its often believed there are turning points in seasons and form can change .

I would line his path to the Manager's office with rose petals.

Happier than now.

But not expecting to have to worry too much about the scenario that you present.

Still has not had a run of games with Delph, Vlaar, Benteke, Kozak, Senderos, Nzog all available.
That day is probably never going to happen either . That's like waiting for all the stars to align.

Would be a lovely scenario so here's hoping. I could suggest a similar circumstance to that of Newcastle Utd. There had been a period of real lethargy and poor form , results and also the performances. However there has been a recent change to this seing an up turn in fortune , play and results .
Now there was a situation where many many fans were unhappy with the manager  and also the owner and the general running of the club. Newcastle had an dreadfully awful run of results 7 winless matches and have now won the last 4 . There is a possibility of that happening with Villa. Pardrew was under pressure and not many fans would have expected such a turnaround ... Is it too much to suggest the same can't happen here at Villa ?
There are certain similarities to the clubs with the fans questionning the ambition of the clubs . I'd like to think Aston Villa are a steady premier league club.

Well unless Kozak is fit by January I can't see that happening with Delph and Ron on the move.

to be honest, I think it is very unlikely. He seems to have proved his own limitations in tactical, motivational, selection and p.r. terms.
