Should the poll not be changed to:

What will happen first:
a - Aston Villa are relegated
b - Paul Lambert is sacked from Aston Villa

Better fan than you alert.

Simply stating I will enjoy my day out at the match tomorrow, think there is a touch of transatlantic paranoia there mate.
I sincerely hope you enjoy your day, UTV

Oh I will, I always do.

You are making one huge assumption there that he isn't doing a Phil Collins .

Well you have done a Barry Manilow, so anything is possible.

Phil Collins.

There's no need for language like that on here.

Clearly if the if we get rid than it's not just Lambert's contract to be paid Keane will also have to go. Has anyone got any idea how long and how much he will cost us?

Quote
I watched that interview with Lambert that was linked a few pages back, where the I don't dwell on defeats quote came from.
If you're one of the few who weren't convinced he's out of his depth, then that should push you over the edge.  The quote is even worse taken in context.

He learned not to dwell on defeats as part of the Dortmund team, as that's what they did as players in his time there. Regardless of outcome it was straight onto the next game (what's German for we go again?)

Well that's fine when you're surrounded by world class players playing in a system that works with a top coach who does all that tiresome analysis and tweaking for you.  That self belief and confidence is what lets you achieve.

When you're scratching about the arse end of the table, and the evidence points to a system that isn't working then I'm sorry you should be dwelling on it.  Especially when you're the bloody manager who's paid handsomely to sort this shit out.

I think we saw that not dwelling on stuff, absolute belief in the approach reach it's high point at the back end of the first season.

I don't think the basic approach has changed in all the intervening time, but I suspect that the players confidence, in themselves, what they're asked to do and in Labert himself has become ever more brittle, which is why when they get into a rut or something goes against them, collapse is inevitable.

I wonder if the presence of Keane did have a positive effect at the start of the season and inject a bit of self belief, but as soon as the luck started to turn, it was like Dumbo losing his magic feather.

I think I read someone post the other day about the trouble with "next big thing" managers is they don't know how to react when things start to go wrong, and I think that that's exactly what we're seeing here.

Someone who experienced his greatest success in an environment where belief in the systems and methods employed was absolute, who was taught not to dwell on defeat.  Someone who had until 2 1/2 years had ago experienced nothing but instant success with the same approach.  Suddenly he's in a situation where it's not going well, but toughs out the first year with the same almost belligerent "there's no need to question what we're doing" approach, and actually ends the year looking quite good.  Further fuel to the fire unfortunately.

I don't the basic approach had changed over the last 2 and a bit seasons.  What has changed is players confidence in what they're doing and their belief in what they're doing. They are dwelling on things because they're shellshocked from getting their arses handed to them pretty much every week.

Classic stuff. Like a rabbit in headlights. He will not change.

The best chance for us to ramain in the premiership is for Lerner to sack Lambert get Moyes in and give him a decent wad to spend in January, he would also have to agree to pay more in wages to get anybody decent in.

Haven't Dafabet pulled the plug on us ? Once Tom Fox realises we can't get sponsors maybe he will demand change ?

I think watching us lose every pissing week may have a bigger impact. Well I live in hope it does anyway.

I'm sure we beat Liverpool and Hull, and drew with Newcastle?

Sorry, we did. And since then we've gone from strength to strength. Maybe we should extend Lambert's contact?

Exactly, the bloke is in denial and he obviously does not have a clue as to how to put it right. He is not learning from his mistakes because he does not believe he is making any.
This was why I was never enthused by his appointment, how many times have we seen this with new managers, some success, get a big job and then failure. It takes real guts to change things because first you have to admit that you have got it wrong.

I don't get the Moyes thing...unless he's given about 5 years to turn things around.
