Interesting nugget on BBC news last night - the last time we lost 6 in a row was the year of the Torrey Canyon disaster - 1967. I remember it well - I was 13, all the news was in black & white, and really puts it into perspective of just how bad this bad run is. He simply has to turn it round in the next 2 games or he has to go.  As for who to get in - a big no thanks to Dim Sherwood from me. Not over keen to see Pulis at VP either, though he would stop the rot. I think Moyes would be a good fit for us, but I want to know how Southampton found the likes of Pochettino and then secured Koeman. Just wish we had someone on the board who can spot a more imaginative alternative than us keyboard warriors can come up with

Edit - 6 in a row not 7! Getting ahead of myself

I wish it were true, but I think we all know Lambert is probably as safe a manager as there is right now. Not a chance in hell he'll be sacked. Despite the fact we just desperately need a new, fresh perspective.

If we still haven't got a point by the Burnley game and then that's their first premiership victory against us.

He can't stay

As I think every fan should boycott the next home game , so Lerner than has to fire the bullet .

In part it also helps making appointments during the summer. Doing it mid-season leaves you limited. I would guess if we sacked Lamberk now we're limited to Moyes and Pulis. The former would be ideal because he'd be good long term too. The latter would be good for the first 18 months but we'd soon get itchy feet again.

I do think he'll go. Not even Lerner will be able to ignore 8 defeats in a row.

I sometimes wonder if he even realises how many defeats in a row we've had at the moment, and whether he'd realise it in another 2 games time.

I think there will be a shock win  against either saints or west ham which will keep him in the job for another five defeats on a trot.

Given the defeats, the number of ignominious records broken, the insipid post-match displays, the lack of any touchline passion and the dwindling crowds, I have to keep asking myself what will be the tipping point for the club? They clearly are not going to be put off by our worst run in god knows how long, or the fact the atmosphere at Villa Park is reminiscent of a wake, so I really do begin to wonder what on earth it will take. They seem so dead set on this course of showing loyalty to Lambert that they seemingly are oblivious to the evidence that is right in front of them.
I can only imagine the post-match discussions in the directors box, where those in charge (bar the obvious one who never shows) will have clung to the hope that we were just unlucky and that we will turn the corner. I sense that should the team once more capitulate at home to Soton and the atmosphere turn ugly (unlikely as it may seem) that even that will make no difference.
Its crap as a fan to know that your team could be so much better, but that the person who is holding back the ambitions of your team is bullet-proof to those running the club.

I'm never known a manager whose team has gone through so many terrible runs of form to be so secure. It's quite remarkable really and you'd have thought there comes a point when it's clear it's not going to work.

The very recent quotes of Lambert having 'unequivocal support' are the most worrying for me.
It seems that they (the board) are either completely oblivious to the current state of affairs, and the feeling amongst supporters, or they just don't care.

Mind you, how would the board possibly know about the feeling amongst supporters. The apathy and resignation from the fans is staggering really.

When the second Spurs goal went in on Sunday, there seemed to be just a collective 'shrug of the shoulders' from the crowd and then loads of people got up and left.
That was it. No anger, no frustration, no booing...........just an acceptance of another home defeat and then nothing.

Sad times.

They're the only options if you limit yourself to looking at managers who've worked in the premier league in the last few years.  If you broaden your horizons a little there are others available.  Thomas Tuchel would be a good choice (and my top target based on who's out of work currently) for example; he has a slightly odd contract situation with Mainz where whilst he's no longer their coach they're still holding him to his contract which is why he's said he'll take a year off but I think that could be resolved pretty easily.

I really don't want Pulis and I think Moyes would be fine now but if he was here for much more than 18months it would become a mistake.  As for Sherwood that's as poor a suggestion as I can think of, poor manager with a massive ego, that's a dolly like appointment for me.

Well if anyone might have a bit of vision for our next appointment it's surely a chief exec who's come from Arsenal?
