I'd have sacked on three separate occasions, bet he can't believe his luck.

Yes, but the final chapter is still to written in this twisted saga...

Delighted to see him stay, i've always been a firm backer of his

I'm not quite sure what people were expecting last season and who they thought we could get who'd do a better job. Solskjær was the man apparently

Yes he made some poor low cost signings and struggled at times, but he managed to keep us up which was a very good job in itself

He's kept a professional at all times, and never said a bad word about the club or fans

He's still young manager who's got the credentials and the track record to get us back into the top 6, he just needs the fans behind him rather than giving him stick like after Leyton Orient

I hope he gets some support after the start to the season we've had.

Thank you Paul's mom ;-)

You say that, but he actually is perfectly suited to us

Who else is out there that has his standing in world football, as good of a track record in management, combined with the ability to do well on a small budget?

Our team cost like 13 million against Liverpool, not many top class foreign managers would want to come in and have no money to spend

Our expectations need to be realistic, he's done well to keep us in the league and now we're beginning to prosper despite not having the funds of our rivals

Can't see what he's done to deserve this, unless his only remit is to keep Aston Villa in the Premier League. If that's so then he's been a success at the Villa. It's all a bit disheartening though.
We don't know if the goalposts have moved since he first joined us in terms of his remit. We're still apparently up for sale, so stability is key. As dave mentioned, if things do go pear shaped it's likely that a pay off will be capped to a certain figure. We've started this season excellently, and are trying to sign up a number of key players onto long term contracts who, as far as I'm aware, rate the manager. If it results (or even helps) in the likes of grealish, vlaar and delph signing up to new deals, it's a smart move.

Stability.

Just a measure of Lerner rewarding a loyal lieutenant I'd say - if nothing else he's just guaranteed Lambert gets a bigger pay-off should he decide to sell any time soon.

Yes. Lerner isn't interested in getting a better manager in.

I love how he's a professional and doesn't rise to moaning or pointing blame. He just gets on with the job at hand

If we had a Pardew, Big Sam or Steve Bruce they'd have give the fans stick by now or had a go about Randy Lerner

We just beat Liverpool Saturday and are second, and unbeaten, now pipe down at the back otherwise you will be expelled from class!

Such as who? Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who the fans craved and is now on the verge of sacking in the championship?

More like £30m with another £40m on the bench... My expectations are slightly higher than the worst home record in our history two years on the bounce or a collection of the wrong sort club records, but each to their own.

Given that we're second in the league, we're still at least technically up for sale and you'd sack a manager who has given us our best start for years, who then would want to replace him?

I reckon he would have got the contract regardless of that.

Where are you getting 30m from? six of the players had no fee, guzan was like 600k and only one cost over 3 mill

He took over a club in dire straits and managed to steady the ship, despite what the records say. If Randy had employed the wrong manager again we'd be in the Championship now, instead we're second in the league. I'm happy with that but yeah, each to their own.

Technically Guzan was also a free. He had been released and Lambert ended up re-signing him.
