Everything that Lambert's said and done in recent weeks suggests that he relishes a challenge. That's the last thing he'd get by going to manage Celtic.

Good point, never thought of it like that

While we may be disappointed at the footballing achievements of our current and previous manager, I think both of them have true gentlemen, and thought of nothing but the club and been consumate professionals.  Neither of them have ever said a bad word about club at any time.  It is but a small ray of light in a day of darkness, but something i cling to proudly while scoffing at Yaya Toure bad mouthing his club who happen to pay him around 200k a week

Well said

Well, Lennon and Celtic have now 'parted company', so wouldn't be surprised if Lambert is favourite to replace him,

I'd take glory, money and living in Scotland if I were Lambert (Scottish and having the celtic affection)

And it's not just the league. It's the guaranteed tilt at the Champion's League, where even finishing third in the group would elevate him to legendary status.

If I were Lambert I would be giving Celtic serious consideration.  There's been a noticeable softening on H & V to Lambert by a number of posters but to be honest if a wealthy buyer is found who will fund marquee signings it's difficult to see them wanting to risk keeping Lambert. Demonstrating its a new world will be high on their agenda and a new manager is the quick win - especially when you know the fans finished the season giving him a hard time

So that's why I could see him going. Would leave us deeply in the Sh1t though if any sale drags on

He wouldn't turn Celtic down. No way. There's CL football. And it won't be long before Rangers are back to at least make a more interesting title race, or at the very least, Old firm derbies to savour. It's also virtually gauranteed silverware.

A great opportunity to rebuild his reputation. Only Barnes and Mowbray have messed it up in the last 15 years. Easy for him.

A few seasons at Celtic would mop clean his shit-spattered stint at Villa. Then he'd no longer be soiled goods in England. There's no way he's going directly from us to anything better in the PL.

With Lennon now gone, what happens if Celtic come after Loyal Lambert?

I don't think Lambert is the bookies favourite

I don't think Celtic will approach him. There are enough decent managers out of work they could go for, saving them money on compensation fees.

If Celtic approach him he'll go.

I can do that too.

If Celtic approach him he will stay here. No matter if Celtic are in the champions league (did I read three rounds of qualifying?) a job at Aston Villa in the premiership has got to be far more interesting (even in the state we're in).

As if he'd go!

I can't believe such a shit-house of a manager could ever find himself in the position where he could choose to manage Villa or Celtic. Are both clubs so unambitious?
