Not sure about it being bad news. After the season we've had he ought to offer his resignation.
The worry is it if we are still in the same position next season financially we need another manager who is willing to operate under such terms. We know a few very good managers did not fancy the task and probably wouldn't again if asked.

The only thing we know for certain is that Randy is looking to sell. Everything else is guesswork including the financial resources of the club post sale. If nothing changes, we are still Aston Villa, a PL football club and there will always be very good managers interested on managing us irrespective of the challenge. That pool just gets bigger the better the resources we can provide.

I guess the next question is: do we trust Randy enough to appoint another Manager?

I love Villa. You love Villa. But I am not sure everybody else does. I worry that without the promise of cash to spend which managers of quality would want to come to Villa.

Everything is conjecture atm but it is not bad news if the announcement of his 'resignation' coincides with confirmation of a take over. And of a new, top level manager.

Tough on him though.

I'm not sure about it being tough on him (if it's true). I know there were injuries but a lot of managers have been sacked for less than losing 22 games in one season so he can count himself lucky that this takeover has come along to make it look as if he's being moved on in the wake of that.

You don't have to love us to manage us. It's a job despite the difficulties it will still be a step up for many managers across Europe. And while our net spending on transfers and wages wasn't what it was a few years back it wasn't as if it dropped to the bottom of the pile under Lambert. Add to that the unbelievable stat of McLeish being so well paid as manager suggests we aren't miserly in that area either. As long as we are a PL club we will always remain an attractive proposition for many managers.

Are any of these recent talking points being discussed anywhere credible? No.

no he has not, but as I have just posted on another thread to me, the real news story is if he stays.

Not sure about it being bad news. After the season we've had he ought to offer his resignation.

I think the point is that why would he resign if new owners were on the horizon and he'd be entitled to a pay off? and also if he chooses to resign how bad are restrictions that Randy is going to put in place?

I'm not sure they have to be linked. Whatever we think about Lambert as a manager, he seems a down to earth honest guy. Regardless of a takeover, after the season we've had, the sacking of his coaches, he had to at least offer his resignation.

I cannot imagine any restrictions would be worse than we've had for the last couple of seasons. Even if no one buys us, Lerner is a business man and would realise he has to spend to keep us in the premiership to protect his investment. If we don't spend this summer we are going to be of the favourites for relegation.

What about this rumoured announcement Monday? Could be regarding Lambert.
This was inevitable. Not just after the season he had but because he knows full well that he's not gonna be part of the new set up. No way no how. I think an agreement will have been reached during the meeting. Golden handshake, bye-bye.

For Lambert it also gives him ample time in the managerial shop window and the opportunity to find a club and get enough time to do pre-season work with them.

Even if he walks out he could still end up with a pay off anyway. He certainly won't leave here out of pocket.
