I think they will keep Lambert until the very last minute to minimize his compo. They want to create the impressionist of stability at the club. The bare unpalatable truth is that what has happened since the end of the season has potentially been massively destabilizing.

Reading through TBAR is actually a guilty pleasure; its a strange mix of dream team and Roy of the rovers. I probably got confused on the gates thing because there have been pages and pages dedicated to it and the significance of the meeting, veering crazily between  which owners PF and PL may be meeting, the size of their compo payments, stories of PA or LE's legendary largesse and bad manners, its all over the place and a great fantasy read. I don't really have time at the moment to spare but it's strangely addictive. Not quite the same though now that Dinks, Admin and Eastie aren't posting. But at least we have London Boy.

Being reported as fact by a few people over there, no news anywhere else that I can see. If true, I certainly wouldn't be too distaught, but it depends on the circumstances and what else is or isnt happening behind the scenes.

Everything is conjecture atm but it is not bad news if the announcement of his 'resignation' coincides with confirmation of a take over. And of a new, top level manager.

Totally agree. Terrible two seasons and he should fall on his sword. Also agree with others though that it could mean that he's not being backed. Who on earth will want the job if that's the case?

The worry is it if we are still in the same position next season financially we need another manager who is willing to operate under such terms. We know a few very good managers did not fancy the task and probably wouldn't again if asked.

I think the point is that why would he resign if new owners were on the horizon and he'd be entitled to a pay off? and also if he chooses to resign how bad are restrictions that Randy is going to put in place?

Well, Lambert took the job knowing about the financial restrictions. There are loads of people who would love to manage Aston Villa, just ruling out chequebook managers isnt necessarily a bad thing. After the record breaking failures of the past two years, something has to change, even if we have to go backwards to go forwards. The ownership issue is far more important at the moment than who the present manager is in all honesty.
