Maybe they're just waiting to see if anyone else steps up to the plate.

I wonder if they will table any new motions or just use the toilet like everyone else.

5pm.

That's neither tea nor dinner.

Americans. Tsk.

So just to be absolutely clear, that's 5PM our time which is 1200 hours New York time.  High noon.

That's very civilised. Not just lunchtime, but cocktail hour as early possible. I always said Randy was a good egg.

I'm not itk, I'm a very naughty boy. But look at the facts. Lambert has presided over one of the worst Villa teams in recent history and is far from popular among fans. The club is for sale, and will be sold soon. Any new owner will want his own man, so Lambert knows he'll be gone anyway. What possible good would it do to have an employee in a high profile role hanging around when he knows he's toast?

I'd agree with that, however, what happens if the club isn't sold soon? What happens if there aren't any parties closed to buying?

Sacking Lambert in those circumstances doesn't make much sense - if only because you wonder how many decent managers would come here with this well publicised non-spending and a chairman who wants out?

I know the timing if Lambert is fired isn't perfect but the season has ended, players are either on holiday or preparing for the World Cup. I don't think it creates that much disruption really. It also might indicate that the sale of the club is not too far off.

What if the sale is some way off - or no sale in sight?

What do we then do?

That's where it gets trickier, I think.

Agree.  If there is no sale in sight, I can't really see Randy Lerner paying the compensation involved with sacking Lambert and getting a possible replacement in.

Lambert has gone with Faulkner, I reckon Randy will make Faulkner sack Lambert for a laugh. He will sack him for being disloyal and for taking part in fun which excludes his employer

Also, what would he tell applicants for the job when they ask "what are your long term ambitions for the club" and his response was "to get shot of it"?

Or how would he say they'd be backed in the transfer market?

Or how would the applicants feel about going for a job with the knowledge that new owners could pop up at any time and turf him out?
