If we were a horse we'd have been put down by now.

There has to be a coach or manager that a team parachutes in, when it only needs to get motivated to beat a team like Hull in a single match to complete the season.

Ditch Lambert and pay such a man a huge fee and bonus for getting one result. Ideally, a strong character with a Villa connection. Suggestions? BFR? Graham Taylor? Mellberg? Laursen? Southgate? Platt? Mortimer? Or Venables?!

I'd seriously play McGrath over baker

Look you could parachute in a sack of vegetables and it would be more effective than Lambert, but Platt, Southgate? why not Steve Hodge

Can the mods reset the poll please, with just a simple yes or no option.

"Now" or "In a couple of weeks" should suffice.

"Now" or "Tomorrow morning" should suffice.

I would sack him now. I am not sure it would have a positive impact, but by the same token I don't see how it can make it worse.

We are going to finish with three fewer points than McLiesh managed and that is gross indictment.

Wasn't really an advocate of that action up until the last couple of weeks, but I would have to agree now.  The results and performances have been terrible and the fact he seemingly let the Culverhouse and Karsa issue continue for as long as it did under his watch is inexcusable.

Part of my point was that it ought to be easy to think of someone, but it ain't. Given the season, we only have some remaining bags of frozen french beans from last autumn to contribute. Happy to do so.

He should have been sacked after the Chelsea 8-0 debacle. Instead he was allowed to stay and fester at our club. The fact that he hasn't been sacked is proof that Lerner doesn't give a flying toss about Aston Villa.
Many people remained loyal to Lambert through most of his time in office so far. They must feel let down by him now. Similarly, others had no issue with Lerner's non-appearance and even sneered when I said we needed leadership. It is all coming home to roost now. If we remain in this division, it is no thanks to Lerner or Lambert. The former took one too many gambles with our future and lost them all. The latter should be sacked, without compensation, for gross incompetence. At least we seem to be all agreed now.

When we stayed up in the Houllier year, it was because of Lerner - because he provided the goals we desperately needed when he paid for Bent.

If we stay up this season, it will be despite Lerner - despite his mental cost cutting measures, despite his dreadful oversight of the club, despite him sitting the other side of the Atlantic whilst the club disintegrates, and despite his manager seemingly doing nothing whilst his two trusted lieutenants instilled long ball tactics at training sessions, created an atmosphere of misery, and acted like fucking arseholes to the non playing staff.

Now. Right this very moment, give him the boot. And leave him at the services on the motorway. Tipping point was a couple of weeks ago, there's absolutely no way back for Lambert now. Ditch him immediately to avoid a poisonous atmosphere against Hull next week, because now we really need to pull together. We don't need the fans on his back from the first misplaced pass (roughly 30 seconds in). We have to give ourselves the best possible chance of winning that match, and keeping our record-breakingly shit manager at the helm will only hold us back.

The problem is our woolly-minded, head-in-the-clouds, heir-to-a-billion chairman can't and won't see it. Which is why he needs to follow the Motherwell Mumbler out the door.

Get rid now.

Lerner's ownership has been one big gamble.

Sack him, and sack him tonight. We need a massive boost for next week and the crowd behind the new guy(presumably Sid). If we go one nil down next week I fear the crowd will turn and the players will crumble. With Sid in charge, the crowd will remain on side.
For me, that could make the difference.

Nobody would cry if Cowans and Given were in charge for the game next week. In fact, it would probably be a massive boost to everyone concerned about the club.

If Lerner's too tight to pay him off, he should organise a whip-round.  I reckon we could scrape the money together by Monday night.
