Lerner would be a fool to sack him this close to the end of the season. His coaching staff would have to go as well. The minute after the final whistle of the final game Mr Lambert can go back to Scotland as quickly as he likes, and we can start the recruiting process yet again.

he won't. He'll be fired a day or two after the season has ended much like McLeish was.

I think he'll keep him on.

He's doing what he wants, doing it on the cheap - just about.

The owner has no ambition beyond us breaking even these days. Proud History, Bright Future. Four words you don't hear too often these daysl

I think they'll do everything they can to keep him on as but nobody can see anything improving I just think finishing a point or two above relegation will just make the situation untenable. We'll see I suppose how it all turns out, but if he is fired you just know the next five games are going to be miserable.

I wish I could agree.

I just don't think Lerner cares too much beyond the bottom line these days. This is the bloke who used to turn up for league cup away matches against third division sides, but who hasn't been to a match in a year and a half.

You can't hide a lack of interest that clear. That's probably the thing that upsets me most about this whole fucked up mess.

Remember that "we are here through thick and thin" stuff they used to tell us all the time? They then did one the minute thick turned to thin.

I hate that it has come to this, but the evidence for it being true is massive.

The away support turned today.

About time too.

They did indeed, me included, and it is indeed about time. Long overdue in fact.

What happened?

Towards the end the fans, almost to a man, sang 'you don't know what you're doing'.

At the end there was quite a chorus of 'f**k off Lambert'.

There was absolutely no rendition throughout the game of 'Lambert's C&B army'.

Me too, I despite everything about this. It's just so exhausting having to put so much into following a club so closely for it to keep kicking you in the bollocks week after week. For me though if Lerner only cares about the bottom line then he needs to fire Lambert.

I bought into the idea of Lambert and young/hungry players, I didn't want the old school of Pulis, Hughes, Allardyce etc with their tired old methods but I thought we were getting a Martinez or a  Rogers. The only plus for me from Lambert is that we have looked abroad for talent but only from the bargain shelf. Just hoping we scrape through as relegation would be a disaster but can't see where the next point is coming from. If there was someone out there to see us through the final games I would sack lambert tomorrow, but who is there? Certainly no one at the club.

To be honest, there hasn't been a rendition of Lamberts c&b army at home either, for quite some time.

What's the betting on Lambert asking Faulkner 'How much have we got to spend next season'? And being given the middle finger?

I hate when a managers desperation sinks to veiled talk about unseen situations and forces at work.

I think that even my cat would do better than the Scottish scientist, and that Sid Cowans would be perfectly able, as caretaker manager, to do those 3 points that would consent us to stay up. Otherwise we can only hope that Norwich lose all the remaining games, that is difficult but not impossible.

I think mostly likely suggestion is the club have walked away from negotiations on new contract.

I'm assuming it was Kendrick that Lambert was getting annoyed with?

What's also annoying me at the moment is the local press, especially the Mail who put no pressure whatsoever on Villa even though we're going through the worst period in 25 or so years. Back in the day we had journalists who had the balls to stand up to the club and print what they wanted. Now we have sycophants like Kendrick and co who are frightened to upset anyone just in case the club takes away there ability to print Ashley Westwood's favourite colour or Benteke's favourite brand of sunglasses.
The local press are now nothing more than mouth pieces for the club.
You will see them turn when they get the word that Lambert is on the ropes. I have had that vibe from some of them recently. Can't remember who though.

Here we go.......
